Not being defensive, but there's less than 100 beta testers,so strategies among friends was pretty much the only way to TEST NM and especially HB to the finish. So it was really more of a help than an exploit.

Its an exploit :D Well played my crew did HB with 30/30/30 stats ;)

Yeah, I understand doing workarounds in beta to get a feel for the true difficulty of the various difficulty levels, and more importantly, to find actual bugs in the implementation.  That said, If I were running the test procedures, I would do it quite differently though, with each beta tester given a broader set of characters at varying stages of advancement and load outs, so they could indeed play 'legitimately' within certain predefined parameters and get the feedback from those unadulterated attempts.

Of course, how many beta testers you have, their mutually overlapping periods of availability, skill levels and the ability for them to follow actual test procedures (when the devs actually provide such guidance) often makes for quite a bit of variance between optimal testing, and getting whatever you can manage to get out of them.  Been there, done that, and I have nothing but respect for those who do volunteer for the task.

Or, in the words of the inimitable Dread Pirate Roberts, "please understand that I hold you in the highest respect."

You need to be a little specific here, there's been changes to enemies abilities in hb following the last update. The latest hb is far too daunting for about 95% of the player base of damp, and frankly I don't know why devs introduced it if it only caters to the 5% of the hardcore uber highly promoted players yet ironically, these are the same players who will hardly touch hb but would rather spend most of their time arduously farming perilous/nm due to so called 'xp efficiency' and payout.

Really? If you call yourself a GOD, why do descend below mediocrity with your disciples? Should you not be blazing a trail and plow through hb without the need of brazilian peter, Mark, and John barriering your feet?

After experimenting on the new hb difficulty and talks with top players on xbone, I do believe it was made as a long term countermeasure AGAINST solo artists and balancing of assumed overpowered kits like SS. Bread and butter classes like AW and legionnare aren't as durable in hb compared to nm, due to ridiculous spamming of mage stone fists, dispels, and 10 second fade cloaking in which they are untouchable/invincible. Don't get me started on the despair demon aoe blizzards and their long duration chill. A lot of the status/paralyze effects aren't avoidable/mitigated even with maxed magic defenses or combat roll without some serious group coordination. I'm not surprised no one has successfully solo'ed or team stomped hb yet without dragon calls.

I'm at 80/100/100 and I'll play level 20's if I'm with a good group and don't want to leave, I like to enjoy all my passives from time to time. Agreed some people don't really belong on nightmare dying straight away on each zone and not working with the team but it's a game, those few passives can make a huge difference on NM, especially the armour ones.

Another discredit to the leaderboards :D

Just once or twice on NM when friends are lv18 and I run out of characters NM ready  :P

I'd rather help than leach a lv1 on NM......plus that bloody 4th Hakkon will not drop for me.

I am still trying to get my head around the OP and a lot of the comments in this thread. My stats are 65/108/70 and I spend most of my time promoting, level 1 in threatening and then to perilous, all with friends (if they are on) or in pugs. I do not regard myself as a good player, maybe medium as my reactions are not what they used to be. However, I am a team player and my play style is towards that.

If, and I mean if I was to enter a nightmare run, I would use a level 20 to be at my most strongest capabilities.

My question is: Would the OP or any of you kick me?

This thing about kicking lv20's bothers me a great deal, you don't know if that player has reached their own chosen rank of promotions as not everyone wants 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999+ on their stats, some like to keep it lower and enjoy the challenge. Instead of kicking them as soon as you see them, give them a chance, after all, a player at lv20 does not limit the amount of xp you earn, if they can contribute to the team effort, let them have their fun.

Just my opinion.

And if promotions don't matter why can I run it on like lvl 10 not even with an ok group and win? If promoting doesn't matter why with a solid grouo we can pull lvl 1s?

Depends on what matters to you. Of course you can run a 10 with 180/180/180. Don't you think that's a little too easy? A massive amount of promotes isn't necessary to play perilous or nightmare.

My suggestion to you would be to make friends and play privately. Not sure why you aren't doing that already because that would solve your problem. But people skills, you need that for friends. Playing this game a lot won't help you level up that stat.

I am sorry but I do not quite understand what you are saying. Do you mean I should promote the 20 and play another character instead ... say a level 17 or 18?

And if my interpretation is correct, why? Surely my level 20 is more of a help to the team.

Hi Dekibra.

But to take a level 1 into nightmare ... surely not. I would not like to leech off others, I have some friends that would help me along, but I would rather be of some use to the team.

my thinking exactly, I would never do such a thing even if friends say it's ok... but - if my interpretation is correct - sonofbarak seems to be one of the peeps who is totally ok with a lvl 1 on nightmare

Well, if sonofbarak is on pc maybe we can arrange a meet up. I will have 16 level 1 characters that can team up for nightmare. I promise to do my best.

Exactly. I would much rather be able to complete it and get a chance at a drop than be carried from door to door and reduce the odds of being able to complete the last boss.

I personally keep a few characters at 20 and promote the others, some are simply easier to promote(or more fun), and they all level the same stat anyway within their respective class.

It also means that when the weekend rolls round I have a couple of classes ready to play a harder difficulty for whatever the challenge is that week.

I really have barely promoted at all anyway, I struggle finding time to play.

Honestly guys why twist words? OP said level 20 who goes to the fade all the time. If your in the fade all the time what contribution did you make? The idea is play at the level you can make contribution to the team effort. That would be any gaming principle.
