It takes by far less time to craft one than to use one. So there is no need to craft several in one crafting process unless you want to craft an abundance. There are more important issues!

Crafting 5 or 10 at a time would lead to more people reaching the gong and realizing they used the last one on their last run. I always have 1 in my inventory and as soon as I use it I go craft another. It's not like you can use more than 1 at a time.

Doubt this will happen, only real time anyone does the dragon is for Hakkon or challenges. Most do FC just for the XP gain.

also, how bringing back the dragon chest? for my alt account who is saving mats for weapon upgrades and armor unlocks, every mat is highly valuable at this time. wouldn't mind the ability to buy these in chests, if the price is right (ahem BW, much lower than previously offered--call it a Fire [Dragon Call] sale).

Just give me my 5000g Dragon Call chests again. I had like 30 dragon calls at one point and they mysteriously disappeared one day. Disappeared as in one day they were in my inventory and the next day they weren't without using them. Heard this happened to some other players as well.
