Still very good against large creatures and bosses, especially the dragon but one of the worst classes for staying alive otherwise, and the risk is often not worth the reward imo.  Just from starting a few perilous games solo waiting for others to join.

vs Venatori, go into stealth, sneak behind a shield guardian, hit with shadow strike, hit with twin fangs, the guardian is still not dead after using those three abilities, he has a sliver of health left.

She has what seems like a few very illogical abilities to me. 'Mercy Killing' as a forced passive early in her tree.  Bonus vs panicked and sleeping enemies except for the small problem that she has no abilities that can panic or put enemies to sleep.  If it was a bonus to knockdown at least her shadow strike knockdown would be more effective.

Having the holy grail last ability in one of her trees being fall back plan when it is the 1st one in one of the archers tree.

Only way to generate any real defense is if you get and use the daggers that generate guard.

She needs something, maybe not an outright buff but a reworking of abilities at least.

You just don't know how to build her. Simple l2p error.

I've told you before, only 4 badges means you are a lesser player not to be paid attention to.

Mercy Killing is pretty cool on nightmare

also on nightmare those big guys have tons of armor, avoid unless you think you can sunder fast enough

Shadow Strike is terrible, and doesn't recover cooldown times when used from stealth

Hidden blades. Stealth. Twin fangs. Death blow. Spinning blades. Flank attack. Take your pick. Passives well I was never here is most important than most other skills not that weak fb plan.

Her, the Hunter, and the Templar should really get their trees reorganized. They're just miserable to play below lvl 16.

Exactly. By the time these classes get fun to play, you can go on and promote them  <_< A real shame because I really like the assassin.

That's the other thing about her abilities they are very unreliable re targeting.  Re mercy killing, surely you mean it is pretty cool if you have team mates that can put enemies to sleep or fear?  I just don't think that passive should be forced on you early if you can't generate the conditions for it to succeed.

The assasin does pretty disgusting damage at bis gear, even on NM. on perilous, everything except the boss is 1 shot. On NM - most of the stuff dies from twin fangs+deathblow (twin fangs brings them under 50% hp, deathblow just wrecks them). I run her with 100% armor penetration (36% from dagger upgrades, 20 from cheap shot, 50% from ambush), so no matter the target, i do 11-14k damage from twin fangs, and deathblow usually doesn't get to hit twice. On the dragon, the damage is also absurd, as hidden blades does 6-8k per hit, and i had deathblow hit for 15+18k. That's close to 70k damage on the dragon in less than 5 seconds.

The tree could use a bit of rework, as some of her core passives are hidden behind useless stuff, but as a general idea, she's very good with bis gear. Squishy as hell, but very good.

her playstyle is different compared to other classes, as you shouldn't be out of stealth for more than a few seconds at any time. With the stealth buff, she's invulnerable to most stuff, so that's your primary defense. Use it wisely and pick your targets, Don;t go rambo. You'll be fine.

"on perilous, everything except the boss is 1 shot"

I certainly did not find this case from my example in the orig post.

On perilous vs shield guardian; stealth, shadow strike from behind, twin fangs did not kill the guardian,  Assassin was about level 10, around 85 in each ability points, using if I recall dagger that gives you guard and the new level 26 dagger.

I dislike shadow strike. I never use it. I'm running stealth(upgraded)/twin fangs(upgraded)/hidden blades(upgraded) and deathblow(also upgraded).

The guardians get destroyed by hidden blades, which technically would count as a 1shot, as you only use one ability.

EDIT: Oops, misunderstood the guardian type, thought it was treasure rooms guardian. It's weird, as the shield bearers don't have anywhere close to 12k hp. I'll do a perilous game with the assasin now, to double check. I'm 99% sure that they do get 1 shot.

I think the only thing I would like changed, and bear in mind I have been gone a while and it might have been addressed, was the pause before the leap of hidden fangs. The animation needed its time cut in half to keep up with moving targets. I l have learned and adapted so I know when to use it, but its ridiculous having to wait till they stop moving..

I like using a class that feels like it takes skill to use. The assassin just feels so satisfying when everything goes right..though you feel like such a fool when an attack whiffs and you are stuck in the middle with no stealth..

I will respect my assassin to go for upgraded fangs and death blow and leave shadow strike out of the mix to see if that improves things.

The twin fangs upgrade is kind of important, as the difference is massive. Added bonus is that if enemies are very close together, twin fangs will hit all of them (more like they have to be on top of each other)

Another important thing is proper use of her "Cull the Herd" passive. Go for isolated targets first.

Meh. Rapid firing abilities and ramp up for drilling the same target are 2 most decidedly un-assassin damage mechanics. Even a super powerful lethal fire and forget DoT fits the theme better.

Hmmm that's kinda situational though, is worth less damage on hidden blades?
