this is why we need 2 hakkon daggers.
The assassin does need a buff or a re tree working....

I just weaken enemies below 50% health then deathblow them .. Usually takes 2-3 hits including death low

Hmmm that's kinda situational though, is worth less damage on hidden blades?
Hidden blades has an insanely long cool down ...not very useful in my opinion .

on NM, it's very good against high hp targets, such as pride demons/RT colossus and venatori brutes. Another use is a guaranteed kill for stealth reset if you mess up or someone ninjas your kill.
Yes, flank attack would be better in this regard, but flank attack doesn't take out high hp targets.

Skill Spray is right. TF then DB. Beer, you really do need to change your playstyle. On perilous I used to one shot things with TF using blue level 20 daggers, or use carta punishers before that, and walking death + blue level 20 coiled strike... because for the longest time I had terrible luck with daggers (but still wanted to play assassin)
http://forum.bioware...rite-mp-builds/
My thread still has assassin builds, from before I had heal on kill or high cunning or willpower. Fallback plan is part of it. I've spent a lot of time figuring out when to attack and where to attack.
Now.. its easymode with all the new weapons and stealth buff.

I think the biggest things that need to change for her are moving the "I Was Never Here" and "Knife In The Shadows" passives up more, as well as finding a way to fix the targeting for many dagger abilities. If the latter isn't possible, then it would be great if you were able to get a free pass on your first miss if you were to upgrade Stealth.
The Assassin is highly dependent on weapon upgrades, and if you don't have the materials for it she's likely going to feel like a bore till later levels.

use her with 2 savage thorns with crit and damage multipliers on, she generates guard almost as fast as pala and its a nice life saver for when something you didn't notice starts to attack before you get back into stealth, or if your cooldowns are fast enough then just attack chain to build guard faster than you loose it, given the best output from those daggers is over 480dps (on standard auto attack) you should be fine with them and ignore the inferior damage ones like the dragon dagger which don't really give you any benefits over the st/

As I understood it, identical procs, like +5 guard on hit, do not stack. Only different ones like a +5 and a +3 on guard stack with each other.

You also have to keep in mind that she has counters. Not the usual ones compared to other classes (like pala+ shield guys). Her hardest counters are rage demons. Twin fang does a knock down, and rage demons do a counterattack when knocked down. Stay away from them, or go for the kill when you know it's a guaranteed 1 shot, otherwise you will suffer from a serious case of deadness, especially on NM.
Another issue is Despair demons. You have to catch them mid-cast (either their lazor beam, or their knock-up), otherwise they simply jump away before you land your twin fangs, leaving you butt naked without stealth in the middle of fifty thousand enemies.
Also, stay away from dogs/hyenas. They break your stealth. You can still kill them, but don;t go in front of them.
Anything else, it's fair game.
EDIT: Forgot about RT horrors with barrier. (the buff when they do aoe spirit damage). i was brutally reminded just now about that. Save your hidden blades for them. And don't go anywhere close to them.

IWNT should be accessible early on in the tree for the assassin and you should NOT be forced to take an ability you may not want or need in order to get to it!

Having to take Fallback plan to get to "I was never here" is what should be looked at. IWNH should be accessible early on in the tree for assassin.
Thats the one that resets stealth cd right? Yea, its .....well its retarded not the smartest decsion to be blunt

Within the stealth buff the assassin us about at the level of difficulty to play on nightmare as it was on Peri before the armor boost. Just be careful and kill methodically.
Don't go into uncontrolled hacking sprees and stay away from the f***cluster enemy groups around the rest of the party like spirit drooling of templar horrors...those enemy clusters are way too chaotic in their movement and behavior to be around too long safely, better target a high priority enemy at the farthest distance you can predict movement wuth and take it out.

Um. Yo. Is Twin Fangs broken? I am getting only 6k crits with it. That's what my Hidden Blades crits for. How the hell is a 300% weapon damage ratio crit equal to 200% ratio with a 300% damage bonus (i.e. 800% weapon ratio)?
Hell, in retrospect, upgrading twin fangs turned the 5k crits into 6k crits, a far cry from what it should have done.
Math wise, the stealth damage bonus (50%) and the Cull the Herd (100%) stack correctly - my SIster's Hidden Blades 2k crits get boosted to 6k (2k * 2 * 1.5 = 6k), so that stacks correctly. Twin Fangs should be reaching 16k crits on on this set up.
Hell, even if we assume that, for whatever horrible reason, the Twin Fang +300% flanking bonus is additive with with the 3x (i.e. +200%) multiplier from stealth/cull combo, that should still be 6x (i.e. +500% damage) on a 200% ability... which would be hitting for 9k crits. That's the worst case scenario short of Twin Fangs flanking numbers actually not working.

just a question: what amulet is better on her? stamina or cooldown? or something else entirely?

I've gone through just about every relevant neck on her while gearing and getting stats up.
If not at 50% crit, cunning.
If you get held up by stamina on kill bug and stamina locks at 50% bug, use stamina neck. (this is the winner most of the time since those bugs are crippling)
If you have issues getting things in one/two shots, dex neck.
With hakkon im using cooldown to raise kill tempo, since stamina issues are covered mostly.

Meh, it seems that it's specifically Twin Fangs flanking bonus that's bugged. I can get up to 3k crits jumping into someone's face from stealth, and flanking only boosts this to 6k at best.

THE ASSASSIN STRIKES BACK!
She is back in the game boys and girls. After having multiple struggling failing games vs the dorkspawn some with friends some pugs I finally had the little french killer in play. She ended up being the 'solution' on the dreaded bolter level. That is a niche she will fit quite nicely in. I think the bolter levels will be more manageable with the Assassin or Luka.

Yeah she's great vs darkspawn, high hp slow moving targets everywhere.
Terrors on zone 1 and 2 demons seem like her only real weak spots now.
Very happy with stealth changes!

With the exception of not being able to barrier a person while they are in stealth. This was a very big problem in a game last night, 3 people on the FC map with my Keeper and an Alchemist trying to work together.

Yeah, I imagine she would be good for bolters. I had a rough zone four with randoms last night due to bolters. Avar ran through the darkspawn like they were wet tissue paper but the damn dwarves, ugh. Used both health potions and both rock armors on zone 4 and still got within a hairs breath of failing. Was fun, lol.

You know they literally just buffed assassin. Stealth now renders you immune to damage (well, pretty much).
Just gotta go for the kill--kill--and stealth away. She's now more survivable than ever. In fact, I'm finding her to be more survivable than my mages now, particularly against bolters.

She does get into health trouble fast. I always thought Mages were supposed to be the squishiest class, but I feel like my Assassin and Alchemist lose most of their health on Perilous (with one swipe attack) faster than the Keeper even.
I'm using Stealth, Flank Attack (to give me stealth back), Hidden Blades (love that it kills most enemies without needing much effort), and Deathblow.
And the passive that gives me Stealth for every kill is a must for me. I have to constantly live in Stealth mode if I want to survive Perilous.
I guess the only tip and thing I learned is to not always go into the middle of a mob and doing a Flank Attack or Deathblow, no matter how tempting it can be when an enemy is low on health. Because the animation of her doing it still opens her up to a melee or ranged attack and that could be enough to nearly bring her down in less than a second. I try to go for isolated targets, but that's of course easier said than done, when enemies are all over the place and really aggressive on Perilous.

I find that it's mostly that lull period in between strikes that makes her most vulnerable, since ranged enemies - at least - can quickly let off a shot and potentially hit you if you're not quick to trigger Stealth and activate it. Be great if she could automatically go back into Stealth if she kills an enemy while originally in Stealth. That's likely asking for too much. The character definitely does have a steep learning curve, though. I want to like her more, but I find her skill tree layout turns me off to her more than her playstyle (which I don't mind at all).
