Should something like it return?
Should something like it return?
Loved it. Even if it takes me four hours to defeat my clones.
Should something like it return?
Sure. Especially if it can give MP benefits to those who prefer SP.
I mean if I could build up Galactic Readiness through something like the arena, I wouldn't have been so against MP in the game.
Yes, it was an awesome addition. Great for trying out loadouts and fun nonetheless. Gameplay-wise a welcome feature for grinding credits and completing everything that was left or overlooked. Good for SP training for MP. No lag, no 60 min solos. What's not to like about it?
It's actually the Armax Arsenal Arena. What kind of fan are you? ![]()
If it fits in storywise... yes please.
It'd be nice and fairly easy to justify. You're going to a new region of space and may encounter hostile aliens. It could serve as both training ground and entertainment for the populace.

Pretty much. Especially if there are turians on board. For them training and entertainment are the same thing. Plus they may need to take the edge off...

Eh, I'm not opposed to it, but I don't think it has the same appeal here. For me the big draw of the Arena was being able to use Wrex and the ME2 squadmates again, and to get otherwise impossible combinations of squadmates, like Wrex/Grunt.
Here it would be a fun mini-game and there's nothing wrong with that, but it wouldn't have the same oomph. For me, at least.

I think it could be interesting if it included characters who weren't on the squad. What if for example something similar included the Andromeda equivalent of Anderson, Shiala, or Bray?
I liked it alot, so I'm all for something similar in Andromeda.

That could be interesting.
Still wouldn't have that nostalgic, "my team is back together!" feeling, but maybe it's best they don't try and capture that lightning in a bottle twice.
I think the best way to get Andromeda started is if the expedition leaves before or during ME1. That way they aren't running away from the Reaper threat, they aren't keeping much needed resources to themselves instead of supporting the Crucible and the war effort and they simply can't speak about anything in the trilogy because it hadn't happened yet when they left.
That would also mean there would be no mention of any familiar names, much less holograms of them fighting with/against you.

Well they could include simulations of "legendary combatants". Unlock those and suddenly you have Garrus, Wrex, Miranda etc...
Of course wouldn't make much sense since you're not Shepard. Unless they also had a Shepard simulation you could fight against. Maybe instead of Clone match, you just have Shepard match- Shepard of your class and appearance (if they can work the importing) or randomized, and his legendary squad vs you.

Not to change topics, but I don't see the Andromeda/ARK project happening parallel to the Crucible project as a bad thing, either in the sense that it would be 'running away' or diverting resources. Having contingency plans like that instead of putting all the eggs in the Crucible basket just makes good sense to me.
Also, weren't the squadmates that joined you in the Armax your actual squadmates, also on leave/just on the citadel for whatever reason? If they were just holograms, then why weren't Thane, Mordin, Legion, and whoever died at Virmire available?

They were the real ones in Shep's case... but for Andromeda, how are you supposed to get the real celebrities into your simulator? They'd have to be holograms in that case. ^^

Well, you wouldn't. At least that was the assumption I've been working on; that this would be the new PC for Andromeda and their squad.
What's so bad about multiplayer anyway? it's not like you had to play a lot to get some readiness.
You could even solo bronze if you really dissliek playing with people, a lot of people, myself included have soloed gold. Doing it with a team and you could pretty much wait it out while people do the job for you.
Going to try not to drag this too far off topic, but...
Nothing is wrong with multiplayer. But at the same time it's something I'm not very interested in participating in. And it's not something I want to do in order to earn "stuff" in SP for. Be it an increase in readiness or keep accessories.
And so, having an alternative, something like the Armax Arena, which is actually intended to be soloed, would make for a nice alternative. Rather than having to solo content intended for a group.
I only want it if we can break the score board and get ridiculous fan mail again. ![]()
Meh.
Was kinda fun, but would cost money I'd rather see them invest in better writers...
I just preferred soloing in multi player to be honest. Thought the multiplayer kits and powers were much better and more interesting than anything Shepard had and it didn't have the annoying time dilation. Also the environments looked better. Leaving that aside, having some remnant vault raids be replayable in single player would be fine.
I would absolutely love to see something like this return. Having a playground to test loadouts and squad composition is really fun.
I'm not really opposed, but it wouldn't be high on my list of requested features.
Particularly with MP, really - if I want some mindless slaughter then I can do that instead.
