I enjoyed it and would like to see something similar again, but I wished it took more from the MP side (more waves, MP maps, MP enemy factions, higher enemy count, etc.).
I always felt the rounds were a little too short.

I think the smarter, better and more efficient way to do it in MEA would be a "MP style" combat simulator with SP squad mates and difficulty scaled accordingly.
What would it add to the story?

If implemented correctly I could see it adding to the world building side of things; people crave entertainment. People in desperate, high stress situtations - say, being on the frontier in a hostile territory with no way back home - crave distraction.
So I could see it accomplishing something like that.

Sounds like a waste of resources. There are more cost-effective ways for people to get entertained and/or distracted.
It only worked in Citadel because the story is you are on shore leave and thus are relaxing in various ways, plus you got to play with your old squadmates again.
The only way I see a virtual reality combat simulator working in the story, or at least well, is if it is in the prologue getting your character ready while teaching the player the controls.
I would like it. Esp with the little touches like seeing where your squadmates or some npc ranked.
Absolutely. The Armax Arena is one of my favorite parts of the DLC. I love being able to freely test out weapons and squad combos without going through the trouble of loading and reloading actual missions to do the same, and without the stupid random store of MP.

Meh, it's not like I'm hugely in support of the idea. Like I said in my first post, the Arena was fun, but much of the novelty came with getting access to all your squadmates(sans the dead ones) again, and that wouldn't be a feature here.
That being said, I would like to see whatever form of entertainment they choose to include be something that we can actually view, listen to, interact with, or participate in, and not just something we hear talked about in cut scenes. I think actually being able to indulge in these things is a huge part of immersion that a lot of games lack these days.
Not a particular fan of it to be honest, would prefer sp stick to story elements, rather than this combat simulator.
I totally agree with you, pinnacle and armax are just killing the immersive gameplay for me.

Uh…how exactly? Combat simulators that use holographic imagery don't break the lore of the setting.

no no it's not about the lore,I never fan of MP shooter games and I just feel like I am playing call of duty and getting away from mass effect world,I just don't like it..I love being lost by the story you know,I never enter armax even just once ![]()
Not sure I get what the issue is, since it's essentially a game within a game, not much different from being able to play Quasar at the casino. On that note, being able to constantly earn credits is also a plus. Also, as one who loves collecting every gun/weapon the game has to offer, it's nice to be able to upgrade everything. The one thing I hate is that damn Cerberus-branded armor you can get.
The Arena was a great addition to the game. It allowed me to take a break from the story and mess around to try stuff out, i.e. practise with weapons I hadn't used much before. Or like KaiserShep mentioned, try out team setups. This was so awesome.
I spent hours in there. I would definitely welcome something similar in the upcoming game. ![]()
It would be a nice addition to the hub world, unlock unique loot, receive crazy fanmail or make it the unofficial sport of the Ark with teams and sponsored events.
It can be repurposed to a sports arena, too, so we could watch Asari playing dodgeball against Krogan!

ME3 was a hugh success and kept lots of players attached to the franchise after the $hitstorm about the RGB endings, we do not have to discuss this here all over again, do we?
I'd like to see it. I haven't actually played ME3 much since my first (quick) run through of Citadel, but I am looking forward to having it there when I get back to it on my new trilogy run. The concept that I can not only try out squad/weapon loadouts in a "live-fire" exercise that doesn't run out is a huge thing for me. I found ME2 quite frustrating in that once every mission was complete you could never draw a weapon again.
Plus having a way of earning unlimited credits to round off your weapon collection before jumping into a NG+ is nice too.
I understand it can seem a little disjointed from the story arc, but it was an afterthought in both cases we've seen it in. There are better ways to integrate it into the game; on your ship for example as training.

what? I have no idea what you are talking about..for your information we were talking about the combat simulator...
Liked the combat simulator though there wasn't any real point story-wise but it was a nice challenge on insanity. Was a bit disappointed that squadmates said practically nothing though, so I'd love for that to change if it's implemented again.

Good idea.
Should be a no brainer to add and debug (FB3 engine) since the high level code is available from (ME3).
Pinnacle Station V. 2.0?? Meh no thanks
Pinnacle Starion was bad, Armax Arena still fun to play even after 2 years.Pinnacle Station V. 2.0?? Meh no thanks
I kind'a saw it as pointless. Sure, it was fun. But ultimately pointless. Why fight stuff in SP mode when you can have much much harder enemies and objectives in multiplayer mode? You can fight either in SP or multiplayer.
I suppose it's really only good for people that are deathly afraid of MP or who have no access to get online sustainably. And I'm not casting any judgements here. Simply pointing it out. Hell, the entire MOBA community as well as the entire TF2 community almost turned me off this. As well as some other games.
EDIT : Not to derail this thread, but that's what I love about this game's multiplayer mode. You are working together, as a team. Sometimes you go down, sometimes other people go down. Buck up and fight. No one's laughing at you, as is the case in those other games.
