Well, I just finished Descent with my first Inquisitor and there's not much left to do, so this question is more of a vent than a question. But I never once witnessed Vivienne use Fade Cloak on her own, nor did my KE Inquisitor use it when I was controlling someone else, despite having the ability set to priority. Considering what an essential ability it is for the KE I found this frustrating. I even tried making Fade Cloak the only ability set to priority and that didn't help. The only tactical setting I didn't try was disabling everything else, but that would have been ridiculous. Anybody else find this to be a problematic ability for the AI?
Never did get Vivienne to use Fade Cloak

Never tried it, I always have that tactic disabled and consequently only use it under manual control.
To really test it, you'd have to disable all other skills and make sure it has a slot on the 8 active skills. Otherwise, the game AI is always going to favor whatever the behavior is, like if Follow Controlled, it's going to favor attack spells. The AI probably treats Fade Cloak as defensive only. Just my guesses, of course.

I noticed Blackwall stopped using walking fortress, I have a suspicion that the tactics in Descent are buggy or deliberately modified to increase difficulty in battle. This is just a suspicion I can't prove anything yet.
Yep all defensive skills remain unused only then all health tonics are gone ai starts using them on the brink of death when it is too late. Nice job bioware!

I have seen her activate FC, but I didn't run it with the upgrade since FF is on. It was not entirely clear to me why she was using FC when she did.

But that would imply that the AI uses defensive skills to begin with.
Parry, block and slash, combat roll, evade, even fade step seem to be used at...wrong times.
The AI can use shield wall OK enough but it's still not perfect.

I never noticed the AI using offensive or defensive skills differently if a companion is set to follow or defend, but that doesn't mean it definitely doesn't work that way. In general I think the AI has improved with patching, and I've had very few problems letting them mostly do their thing, though I increasingly jumped around to see what the party members were up to and increased my micromanagement with experience. But as the AI seemed to improve, abilities that companions used well early on started to get used more poorly. Combat roll and block and slash, for example, were things I always had Iron Bull use up until recently. But at some point he just stopped doing them, or did them pointlessly, so I booted them. However, fade cloak has NEVER been used by Vivienne or my KE autonomously. It's a fast and short acting power so I know you've gotta pay attention or you'll miss it, but still. I tried different stamina thresholds, follow and defend self and others, tactical priorities, but nothing ever came of it.
Anyway, just one more argument for the old tactics system I guess. It had a steep learning curve, but by the time I was half way through DA:O I thought it was ingenious.

This might be sad of me but i always assume party AI is broken so thus the companions useless, for me they are there just for chatter an i solely rely on my pc to win battles

So party AI i completely screwed up in descent. Quality bioware testing and i doubt it will ever get fixed.

So have any Dev comment on this issue yet?? Mainly the AI companions not using abilities and AI companions freezing up.
Also
With the upcoming dlc will there be a patch for all console? And addressing this issue?
Unfortunately I have to join this club to
.
