How? Pls share. The only build I've found is with the deathward going full ice mage, but wow is that boring

I think if you have to go mage, Elementalist is the walking nuke.  The keeper with Dispel, Upgraded Barrier, Upgraded Static Cage and Lightning is OP.  I ran as a 17 earlier today and contributed heaps.  Heck I've even sucked the Demon Commander away from an injured team-mate using Static Cage.  Very under-rated character imo....

I have never had much success with Necro, the blizzard is terrific, but the lack of a barrier can be so sick to play with if a dragon strikes you.

My grinds tend to be Legionnaire, Reaver, Keeper, Elementalist, occasional Archer.

I rank them up as close as poss to 19.  Lego can run as a 17 easily with the Emperor's Shield.  Reaver feels squishy as a 15, but is OP from 18 and up.  Keeper is decent even as a 17.  Elementalist I like to have at 18 minimum and the Archer I can normally play as a 19, however it's the one class where for NM runs, I prefer to have a 20.

i use fade cloak, fade step, winter's grasp and of course walking bomb you'd be surprised at just how much damage you could put out all while being pretty darn defensive using fade cloak in conjunction with fade step. If you are on the lower side of promotions spirit mark is a viable alternative to pick yourself up when simulacrum kicks in.

super easy to use as well, just walking bomb a decent sized mob as per usual. then play keep away while dealing damage with fade cloak/step. try to get in as many auto attacks as possible when no one is aggro'd on you as well for that gathering storm cd reduction. winter's grasp freezable enemies coming your way. learning enemies line of sights and how/when they will attack is crucial when playing the necro and not being babysat by a barrier. hope this helps i've been having a lot of success with the necro on nightmares since the recent buff.

he was asking for advice on necro builds and play styles that are viable in nightmare. and for good reason too, the necro is the hardest mage to use in nightmare anyone can use an elementalist, keeper, virtuoso or arcane with little to no problems.

Yea thanks for the advice I've been playing around with spirit mark and noticed that there are few things more satisfying then turning a pride demon against it's brethren lol

Necromancer is underrated in nm. Not all enemies are weak to fire status but walking bomb is effective across all factions.

IMO energy barrage, horror+, ice mine, walking bomb+ is best with variation if substituting horror with fade cloak. But with the recent buff to dot crit and hakkon staff there is no reason not to use horror+ as it will deal more damage than fade cloak and you have both freeze and fear that way, and great dps as possible with a necro with staking walking bombs and energy barrages. Also energy barrage reduces cooldown of wb to like 7s. Try it.

Still be very careful when not plating with barrier in group. Works best with a taunt/ real tank in the party though.

I play any character on NM except Necro and Katari... Guess that says a lot.

Walking Bomb, Winter's Grasp, Fade Cloak and Fade Step. Aggressive, heavy-risk-high-reward-squishy-vanguard-esque gameplay.
Practice in Perilous beforehand to build up your confidence, discover your weaknesses and perhaps get addicted to it.

I have 98 Promotions on my Necro. I just love this gothic chick too much.

That's why I like to taunt stuff with my lego. (Then fall asleep half way through a zone because I'm too tired of doing auto attacks for a whole NM match...)

I have saw someone rocked with Necro in NM using bilzzard, walking bomb, horror, winter's grasp. The blizzard never stopped and he never moved for the whole duration of zone 3. Everything seems popping, freezing or in panic and things die real quick. But again, I got no idea how many promotion he has, so...

Superb tank + dps + CC + combo initiator

Walking Bomb, Winter's Grasp, Fade Cloak and Fade Step.

Exactly how I play it.  Lots of fun.

I have had limited success in NM on the necro without a barrier caster. I usually take WB/FC/Horror/WG. Also works better with a tanky aggro grabber (lego with CS mostly). She puts out tons of damage and Horror is a great CC. Staying alive involves constant vigilance and usually a good amount of team support.

This is from the perspective of a low-mid promotion player (just under 100 total promotions).

She is squishy, but can't you use spirit mark to self res yourself whenever you go down?  I would think this would work especially well in nightmare...
