Hmm... Seeing a few threads on character discussion for NM recently, so I will start another one as well.

Any suggestion on using Virtuoso for NM except a life-long babysitting obligation plus the odd power chord for dispel effect? I get there is other buffs he can use like Heal on hit, increase attack/movement speed, armour buff etc... But if I'm to be honest, WE DON'T NEED THEM!

Let's face it: auto attack + barrier spamming is just boring if you have to do that for a whole NM match. And most cases, people run around killing stuff without a barrier on. Ok, barrier is always nice; but we some what no longer depend on it any more when we get to NM.

I use to use all 4 support songs. Just cycle them near comrades and foes while hold down auto attack to get the mana back.

When I see something really dangerous coming(like demon commander's shoryuken) I use barrier. When we need to cover distance I use the hast one.

I use a game pad and I made up a way to spam all the 4 support skills very quickly. Basically I just repeat the sequence over and over again.

I never use power cord, cold beat or hot licks.

The best virtuoso expieriences I've had are when we can lock down a choke point and he just spans barrier, attack speed, and armor up. Its not the most fun you can have just standing still and spamming auto attack with the odd ability tossed in, but extremely effective.

Would like to know if the frame rate issue was fixed, FC was literally a nightmare with a virtuoso.

I never had that problem on PC, ever. So... (Yup with all the bugs I came across, this is one of the very few that I have honestly never met even once.)

i play it offensively with only support being fast beat/battle of the bands and occasional barriers, primarily power cord.cold beats

I can't survive as a Virtuoso in NM without barriers though  I would imagine most players can't either without tones of promotions.

If I'm busy zapping groups of mobs to dust, I doubt I have enough mana to keep pumping my barrier up all the time.

If you have enough gear, and face Red Templars, you can use a little knight music and take trivial damage from their physical attacks. Bring spirit resist tonic and rock armor anyway though, and lyrium pots of course.

Otherwise PC, CB and Hot Licks your way through NM.

This.

The new buffed LKM isn't powerful enough to completely negate damage but against most mooks you'll have no problems surviving. LKM + spamming songs for Fortifying Arpeggio can easily add up to +250 armor should you have Hakkon staff. Obviously you're not meant to solo NM as a virt so do keep barriering your teammates when necessary, and don't forget to put those Barrier + PC rings on!

Thanks all :) Very obviously I have over looked LKM, fortifying arpeggio and ability rings until now. Btw for barrier ring, what does it mean by "barrier power"? Noticed how I been using it on my keeper without knowing what it actually does...

Was playing SS on NM with a virtuoso laying down Mark of the Riff and the damage output was ridiculous.

Barrier strength (max_barrier) is determined by the caster's weapon damage and applicable passives. (i.e. max_barrier will be higher with a Hakkon staff than a level 15 staff, and will be even higher if you have Strength of Spirits. It basically sets the amount of damage your casted barrier can absorb before it disappears.)

Barrier ring increases max_barrier by 30% = more damage absorption. Now why is this important for the virtuoso?

As a keeper, when you cast the "Barrier" ability, you cast a barrier that fills 100% of your barrier bar with max_barrier as the barrier strength.

As a virtuoso, when you cast the Barrier song, you cast a barrier that fills 20% of your barrier bar with max_barrier as the barrier strength.

Also keep in mind that barriers from different casters do not stack, but rather overwrite each other. Say your max_barrier is 5000 and you cast the Barrier spell as a keeper and a newbie keeper with a level 5 staff casts barrier after you do, his weaker barrier will overwrite yours

This is important for stealing support xp.

It is also matter of giving yourself speed of movement and selecting who you attack. HoK works great if you can kill so if your damage out isn't strong pick smaller enemies and also cold beats does DoT so use that. Remember teammates also speed up mana regen and also can provide barrier for you as a passive

A little knight music received a buff, play that if you have decent constitution and you'll never have to play barrier again. Then depending on your stats play bolstering ballad and you find NM too easy, just hope they don't nerf it because I let the cat out of the bag. Chain this into battle of the bands and sing along.
