I just watched the StarCitizen gamescon presentation and the scale of the game just blew me away.

Please study the Star Citizen incredible tech, game engine, expanse, etc and combine it with the Mass Effect storyline, character development, locations, quests, drama - for the ultimate universe players can escape to.

- ME has life.

- Star Citizen engine seems to have endless universe potential you can get lost in.

Combining both would create a level of immersion never seen before.

I think we have two options here:

1. Mass Effect comes out

2. Mass Effect copies Star Citizen

You can choose only one, and neither seem very appealing.

Besides, these games have fundamentally different design philosophies. Star Citizen is a simulator that's releasing it's combat module after the full game releases because the team can barely handle the feature creep. Mass Effect is simply a game; it wants you to play through its combat and hear its story. With the design process being what it is today, those philosophies are essentially irreconcilable.

Just let both games exist within their own niches.

Too late for ME:A

Bio can take elements of Star Citizen but not its design philosophy.  Having said that, if SC does well, Bio may definitely go for a MMO like game down the road.

Check out their environment engine. Imagine ME:A having this level of detail and freedom for world exploration. I would never leave home again:

While id like actual control of the player spacecraft similar to a space sim, I don't think it would be a good idea simply because of the huge amount of resources building a physics based flight sim would take.

Have backed Star Citizen but not for the same reasons I would play a Bioware game.

Who says they aren't doing something similar? The survey leak and dev comments seem to indicate that ME:A will be much more ambitious than the trilogy.

There has to be a reason why the dev cycle of the game is so long.

So you want them charge real money upwards in the hundreds for different ships?

Every month, I start the Star Citizen client, see the 25 GB patch, get excited, download... nothing changed, no new content.

So far, SC is nothing but promises and a prime example for feature creep.

Star Citizen has had so much feature creep it's not a game we're going to be seeing a proper release for anytime soon. MMOs already have a lengthy development time, and this is one of the most ambitious games ever made.

If BioWare tried to do something similar, we wouldn't get another Mass Effect game until about 2022.

I am never a fan of these "Please make ME like x. y. or z." posts.  They make no sense to me. It's like wanting your cheeseburger to be more like a taco.  The result is a crunchy cheeseburger. Yuck. Sounds unappealing to me., even though I like both of the foods on their own.

Make it ME.  Period.  I liked ME for what it was.  It is why I am an ME fan. I hope they do not try to be like some other game and then fail at being that other game while also failing at being ME.

Trying to make DAI like Skyrim ruined the DA franchise for me.  I liked Skyrim. I liked DAO.  I hated the melded mess that was DAI.

To thine own self be true, Bioware.  B)

All these requests. I'm just sitting here wishing that BioWare would make Mass Effect more like a game I can buy now.

From what I just read in Game Informer it looks like Star Citizen is running out of money and backers. The devs just "fired" one of their primary backers because he wasn't happy with the direction the game is going and it looks like the game may be in serious jeopardy.

http://www.gameinfor...llegations.aspx

Recently, Roberts had to address the community regarding the months-overdue first-person module, Star Marine. At that time, he admitted the company had strayed from its pledge of open communication, rededicating itself to that mission.

About the same time, independent developer and Star Citizen Kickstarter backer Derek Smart started to raise concerns over the game’s “feature creep.” In a lengthy blog post, he lays out specific reasons for his frustration, including delays, key staff departures, allegations of nepotism, and a complete shift from the original pitch to a project that has become unrecognizable to the earliest backers.

Specifically, he states that the Hangar Module, the first piece of Star Citizen that was made available in August 2013, is simply a gallery for looking at ships that couldn’t be used. The current Arena Commander multiplayer module is allegedly “largely a broken mess,” and with the Star Marine FPS module indefinitely delayed, Smart asserts that there is, in fact, “no Star Citizen game.” Later, he calls the game "vaporware."

I think Star Citizen should be properly released before we start saying that other games should take cues from it.

Star Citizen in its full edition will need the top end PC to even run it. Just a warning.

Mass Effect is fine, it just needs a few tweaks and adjustments.  I dislike when people act like Mass Effect needs to be like other games to be successful.

"Please take a look at this unfinished multiplayer focused space sim"

Why?

That guy above should be ashamed and embarrassed of using Derek Smart as a source for anything.

Maybe wait until Star Citizen is actually released before makig those posts.

Because as far as I know, the game is a hangar (complete with ships costing hundreds of dollars), a dogfighting module with questionable design, and a FPS module that is often delayed to the dismay of the fanbase. Sure, based on promises Star Citizen is revolutionary (for the 1 000 PCs on earth that would be able to run it that is), but if promises equalled reality, Fable would be the best RPG ever, Destiny would be the greatest FPS to be released, Watch Dogs would have made GTA its slave, and ME3 would have had a good ending.

To say nothing of the blatant feature creep.

No, I see precious little Bioware should take from Star Citizen, as in the actual game (cynics would day shell of a game) that exists today. It may be the biggest Kickstarter game by a wide margin, but it most definitely isn't it's biggest success story.

SC looks pretty, but not sure what to make of it.  Is it going to have a story or is it just online warfare?  If it were a role-playing version of Wing Commander I'd definitely be intrigued, but it certainly doesn't look like something I'd want for the ME franchise.

Star Citizen is a space sim (that may never be 'finished'). Mass Effect is a RPG/TPS hybrid (more of a clunky TPS nowadays). They're two completely different games. Just because they both take place in outer space doesn't change that.

Bioware shouldn't look to SC for anything. Bioware should look at what made them Bioware and improve on that. "Old" Bioware.

At that point we might as well just wait it out until 2148 when we discover the Prothean data cache on Mars.

It'll need what would be a top end PC by today's standards.

Not so much by the standards of when it actually gets released.

The plan is for it to feature a wing commander style campaign with an open mmo style space sim, but its not going to be very similar to what Bioware usually does. Anyone that isn't a longtime backer at this point should probably just hold off instead of giving them more money until they deliver more content.

To make ME:A like SC. The Bio team would probably have to scrap details from the game, and add in things from SC. This would take time, and money.

Also. This would more than likely annoy ppl. Like me.

I want Mass Effect to be mass effect. Not Star citizen Effect.
