It wouldn't work.

Even when Shepard would be only option, whole story would have to be written to fit Shepard character. No fresh start here, only fresh face on old story.

More like old face on fresh story, no?

And yeah, it could be done in a number of ways, but it won't be because I don't know.

Okay guys, idk if you noticed this but do you notice that DAO and the mass effect trilogy has kind of a similar story ..... [ you'll understand ]
And since DAO can end up with either The Warden dead or alive, why can't they just give Mass Effect 3 the Dragon Age Awakening treatment? Where you can either import your old character and continue his/her story or create a new character and mold a new story ......... I mean it's completely fair to those who want a fresh start or who wants continuation.....

No thanks.

Because the Milky Way Galaxy is in one of four mutually exclusive conditions.

Because writing around this is either impossible, or requires you to make silly compromises.

Because it undermines player choices and the previous story.

Because you don't need to handcuff the new story with the old.

The problem is I found Awakenings to be a substandard BioWare product and to me it was far worse then anything Mass Effect 3 was (again to me). Combine that with all the additional costs of bringing Shepard back to life and probably hurting the story in the progress, I rather just leave Shepard to be retired in the first trilogy and have a new protagonist to experience the Mass Effect Universe from a different viewpoint.

Coz awakening didnt handle the Import with the Gray Warden well at all.

well yeah since you can't import the world state if your warden was dead ...... and there were some complications......

Shepard was a fun protagonist, but three games and their DLC was enough.

The Mass Effect universe is big enough for more than one hero.

The problem with this is that by including anything from the previous trilogy that was a major player's decision will just complicate things. In fact I am perfectly ok with them removing major plot changing decisions if only so we don't get written into the same brick wall that was ME3's ending. all this player choice stuff is really going to keep kicking them in the butt as they keep making games with plots that tie together.
