THEORY:

He is bounded to a Dragon, like Flemeth/Mythal.

My idea is that when the Magisters (Cory and Architect among them) entered the Fade the first time, they were possessed by the Ancient Gods themselves who were exiled in the Fade, and become one: hman bodies hosting a god soul bounded to a dragon. The Gods were corrupted already (maybe corruption was the weapon used to defeat them or make them weak, and what corrupted their dragons that so became Archdemons). This is why Cory can't be killed, cause he already is a God.

This is why he knows how to bound himself to a dragon. Urthemiel did it, Mythal did it.

During the process of possession they have lost their memories, or maybe they've lost them in time while passing from a corrupted body to another. This is why Architect and Corypheus don't remember their previous life... (Cory doesn't in Legacy, in Inquisition he claims to remember some things, but maybe is just his speculation or what he wants to believe). This could be also the reason why the "City" looked empty, 'cause they were immediatly possessed.

P.S. Of course you noticed Solas has an amulet. Flemeth has one in DA2, she uses it to remain bounded to her dragon I assume. This makes me think Solas has a dragon somewhere.

He can't be a god because I just whooped his candyass all over southern Thedas. I would think a god would be way stronger than that.

The fact Corypheus had a human life doesn't invalidate my theory, as I told the human Magisters where possesses when entering the Fade.

Why did Solas give the Orb to Corypheus? How could Corypheus be MORE powerful than an Ancient God like Solas/Fen'Harel?

Solas lost much of his power and their's more to a god then having power.

Moreover, if you think about it... Corypheus migrates from a body to another, exactly like Flemeth (taking the bodies of her daughters to survive).

Then, during Kieran' quest Morrigan says she can't understand how the boy opened the Eluvian, as a very great power is required.

Opening the Eluvian in the Arbors was possible for Corypheus... because he has the power... He IS a God.

Corypheus was kept prisoner undergorund, exactly what the legends of the Old Gods tell. Probably both the Magisters/Gods and their Dragons are undeground somewhere as the Architect was underground. There could be more prisons and more Magisters like Architect and Corypheus.

The Archdemons aren't controlling the Blights... The Magisters ARE... Each Magisters is connected to a dragon, each magisters controls a Blight... Corypheus can control the Blight...

Again, power does not equal being a god.

We already seen how a god is 3 times over and Flemith is just a shadow of one. Added, body jump does not equal being a good.  In the 3 chase we've seen what a god is like all 3 effected the environment they were in by just being. Hakkon froze an entire cave by just being, Urthemiel, blighted a good part of ferelden by just being, and Then their's the titan in decent grows lyrium from it's body but change the stone around it by just being. Added, all 3 have ways of binding beings to it's service, which is one of the few thing Mythal still has left of being a god. And the magisters don't control the blight. Cory never controlled the blight.

And about the fact Flemeth, Morrigan, Kieran all wear in violet and black.. exactly like Architect and Corypheus? An artistic coincidence?

There are statements by Morrigan and Inquisitor when leaving the Fade after meeting Flemeth. "It is like a scheletal hand emerged from the past to grip our present" or something similar... and then "The same could be said of Corypheus"

Moreover, you know what I thik? Fen'Harel/Solas was a SERVANT of Mythal... this explains the Wolf Staue in the Temple. SHE GAVE the Orb to Solas in the first time, then tells he did wrong by giving it to Corypheus. This is why he looks scared and apologizes.. he his a servant! Flemeth is not possessed by Fen'Harel... SHE TAKES HIS BODY because she can't take Kieran anymore...

I am playing the final stages of the game these days, believe me when I told you that keeping my theory in mind while playing, changes EVERYTHING... it just fits so perfectly whit every sentence made by the characters, it's incredible. TRY.

I don't know if it's necessary to call Corypheus a god, but the part where the Ancient Magisters were  possessed by something that they then brought to the Old Gods, now that is a damn fine idea.

It's already suspected that the bit about the darkspawn tainting the Old Gods is a Chantry lie or incorrect guess, and that each Magister has to find his Old God to awaken it as an Archdemon.  After all, the Architect finally found Urthemiel, and I'd bet money that Corpheus did the same to awaken Dumat back in his day.

We've heard much about imprisoned beings being sundered and poisoned - what if the ancient elven gods were playing around with the Blight as some kind of super weapon, got themselves infected, and had to be separated from their physical forms, such that their "godliness" or spirit-parts were trapped in Arlathan/The Black City, while their physical, dragon forms were imprisoned beneath the earth.  Then, they posed as the Old Gods of Tevinter, lured Corypheus and friends into the Black City, possessed them, which also tainted/deformed them, then returned to the world to dig up their bodies?  And once the Magister finds the dragon, the tainted spirit returns to its body and an Archdemon is born.

HAs nothing to do with it. Morriagan is no god. Kieran never got to full power and Flemeth all bout a fraction of hers. And Fen'Harel was never a servant of  Mythal. And She is not taking his body.

I wouldn't dismiss this theory completely. He could be a vessel for Dumat like Flemeth is for Mythal and Solas is for the Dreadwolf. Also if we are still to believe Sera is Andruil, like Sera's memory loss Cory/Dumat could've lost his memories when they breached the Golden City. I also don't think the archdemons are really slain when they die just like how Mythal was slain but crawled her way back to existence through people like Flemeth(maybe even Andraste)

Dumat along with the other forgotten ones could've been clawing their way out of their prisons through the Magisters.  We don't know much about the old gods as much as we know about the elven pantheon and even then we still don't know much. The old gods could've enticed the 7 magisters to the Golden City to possess them and maybe memory loss came into play when the Wardens bound and locked away Corypheus. We're not even sure what happened to the other Magisters.

The Dread Wolf was said to be able to walk between the creator gods and the forgotten ones(i think the old gods). It would help add some sense to why Solas would give Corypheus/Dumat his orb. I still don't get how the two even meeting would take place. When Solas woke up maybe he was like oh sh!t 5 of the old gods aren't locked away anymore and he happens to track down Corypheus/Dumat for some unknown reason. Maybe he was trying to trick Cory/Dumat with the orb and him being too weak and subsequently losing his orb to Cory and then the Inky interrupting the Divine's sacrifice the whole thing with what Solas wanted to do with the orb completely screwed up the world.

I dunno ;P

Now I'm so sure Fen'Harel/Solas was just a servant. There are many evidences in the game if you think about it. The Wolf Statue in the Temple of Mythal is the first. Then think about how much he is scared when confronting Flemeth in the final scene... "I should pay the price, but the people... they need me!" He is scared, very scared... he cares for the elven people but knows Flemeth doesn't ,and she will take his body anyway cause she wants revenge at every cost.

I think Solas may have been the previous Priest of Mythal, before Abelas. Even their names have a similar sound. Solas probably removed his vallaslin as the Solas Romance Final Scene shows, he can do it.

Solas doesn't approve Mythal's actions becasue she puts in danger the "people", but is forced to obbey her. We know by Solas' own statements in the Temple that Fen'Harel wasn't involved in the treason of Mythal. Of course, he was in her service and she considered him a "dear friend".

I think Mythal is not hiding Kieran's soul in the Eluvian, not even hiding hers for Morrigan... she is gathering, putting the souls somewhere in the beyond for her purpose.

Do you really think BioWare would replace a charismatic and loved character like Flemeth for Solas? Nobody prefers Solas over Flemeth. Oh.. she is not done, she possessed him, I'm sure! She is the Villain...

Not all Gods are created equal...

Stop, Your argument is like a boat up a creek with a paddle. Solas is the god of rebellion. He is no ones servant.
