Just kinda dumb? I thought it made absolutely no sense at all and totally f***ed up the backstory to Alien. I expected better from Ridley Scott... but I expected better from George Lucas as well, and we all know how that turned out.
I think it's safe to say that by the time Prometheus came around Ridley Scott has pretty much lost his marbles.

Assuming all of this is true and Prometheus actually makes perfect sense, it's still bad because none of it is made clear in the movie itself, and the audience still walks away with the impression that the film is stupid and makes no sense.
Now there's nothing wrong with a film that challenges the audience to think a bit instead of just spoon-feeding the conclusions to them like babies, but a film that's overly complicated and expresses its ideas poorly like Prometheus does in this scenario just leaves people scratching their heads and requires way more thought and analysis than any movie really should. That goes double for summer blockbusters like Prometheus was intended to be.
And I still think the movie is stupid and makes no sense.

And now he's working on a new Blade Runner movie. Kirk Cameron save us all.

That video didn't tell me anything I didn't already consider. The basic premise of the movie is fine - if people are really asking those questions...I've lost faith in humanity. What I hate about the movie is the idiocy of the characters. They're just as dumb as the characters in Lost. Relying on characters doing dumb things to move your story forward is bad writing, it's lazy, it's the easy way out rather than writing a believable scenario.

Funny you should mention Lost. The script for Prometheus was co-written by Damon Lindelof. Stupid characters seem to be his thing.
Two So Bad They're good movies
Hudson Hawk - epic train wreck
Cleopatra - The most epic Trainwreck of all, starts with a brilliant director (Joseph L Mankewitz) in way over his head and just goes from there.
The top grossing film of 1963 and it was so over budget it was still a flop
Supergirl. Not a movie, but definitely ****. I don't know any bad movies, I don't really watch anything unless it's well received on IMDB or recommended by people I know share similar likes and dislikes as me. Saw Super Mario Brothers when I was around 1/3 of my current height but I can't say I thought it was bad because wtf do kids know about good film.
Now that I think back, pacific rim had me cringing a lot. I decided to rewatch hot shots and top gun and now I don't even want to know what other movies I used to like when I was at that age... I think they all tried too hard... trying too hard at anything makes me cringe, and it makes me wish Hollywood could be more like the British producers.
Pacific Rim had me laughing near the end because they had this super duper robot and only just realize near the end that they have the big sword of doom. WTF?

they had lots of silly things like that. can't possibly observe them all in one viewing. whole fight could ended as soon as they built their 30th mech considering all the creatures were confirmed to be coming from that one crack in ground. Hollywood were amazing once, it's sad how far down they've fallen.

Because the creativity has died. Right now everything is run by bean counters..
Pacific Rim: 9/10
Anyone has problem with that?

Nerd is such a cliched term today... Many are on it just to be on the bandwagon but that's another topic for another thread... I just hate the over use of the word.

I concur that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. It's been an ongoing thing for the past decade or so, but it's worse now than I've ever seen it. The theaters are backed up with sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots, reimaginings, adaptations, and other unoriginal dreck... and the "original" films they put out are so goddamn repetitive and formulaic that they might as well be sequels and remakes themselves.
It's so bad now that they're actually rebooting franchises within 10 years of each other. They just released a reboot of Fantastic Four even though the last F4 movie came out less than a decade ago ago, they're working on Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street reboots even though they just had remakes, and now they're gonna reboot Spider-Man again a record one year after the previous film.
It's so barren of originality that I've actually stopped going to theaters altogether. I can't even remember the last time I saw a movie at my local cinema. Probably been at least two years, maybe more. I'll go check out Star Wars Episode VII (a sequel) later this year and then probably not see another movie in theaters until Star Wars Episode VIII.
Believe in this case it has to do with the event being held at SDCC, as well as the actors work on Chuck, which featured the group known as Nerd Herd. And while I have not done research into the charity, it appears to be one that does help children.
Ah...... my bad sorry for the mini rant

I can't help but agree.
It has been literally years since I stepped into a movie theatre. There's just nothing for me to like, and far more often I just wait for the movie on disk and then buy it.

I haven't seen the actual movie it's from, but this scene is amazing:
Never before have skateboards, blow-up dolls, and rocket launchers been so masterfully incorporated into film.
Still waiting for the Pacific RimxGojira crossover movie.
Next on the list would be Pacific RimxGundam.
Just kidding.
I need this. I NEED THIS.
Needs to be an avenger.
