I've been agonizing this for a week. It's so not a productive week. Seriously.

Can you help me?

1. I've been through some stressful things. I need a release. I tried playing DAI, but it's not working.. Already played like 4 times, nearly 500 hours, nothing actually new to me.

2. I liked JOH. Not loving it but somewhat okay.

3. I'd love to see some main story related plot and companion exchanges.

4. I didn't actually like Deep Road in DAO.

5. I don't like dungeons...had enough of that through Skyrim...like enough for the rest of my life.

6. But I love lore...

So, would I like this new dlc?

Sadly Descent is made to be a dungeon crawler, so based on your points of what you like/don't like there it may not be fun for you. It is mostly just combat, with interesting lore tidbits but you can get the lore just by reading spoilers fine enough. Descent, being action/dungeon crawling/bit of lore info it has very little companion stuff, like JoH, and since it is a DLC that can be played at any time after arriving at Skyhold it has no connection to the main story. Only a post-game solely DLC would have anything to do with main story however and they haven't released one of those since DAO.

I really enjoyed Descent and Jaws of Hakkon, but I've clocked over 2000 hours playtime and still not burned out on the game so not comparable to your situation

Based on 3, 4, and 5, you probably would not enjoy Descent.  Sorry, I'm not sure what to recommend in its place.

Edit: Scratch that. I can recommend any of the DA Books, if you're not dead set on a game for stress relief.  I enjoyed all of the books/ graphic novels, but in particular The Masked Empire and Last Flight have a Ton of lore stuff, and Masked Empire and Asunder have some neat plot and character tie-ins with Inquisition.  :)

Based on your list, I'd say no.
companions have very little dialog. The story is carried by two temporary companions. The lore it adds is nonsensical and not even an attempted to be explained.
The deep roads have never looked better though.

I'd disagree that the lore is nonsensical, although it is left a bit vague.

however, I don't think you'll enjoy it as much. Wait for it to go on sale, or maybe someone will buy it as a gift for you

1. There's nothing new game play wise in the dlc

2. Jaws of Hakkon was worlds better then Descent shockingly enough.

3. This dlc has nothing to do with the plot as the others say, and the companions left their tongues at skyhold.

4. You will hate the first half of the dlc then, as it has a very similar feel to dao deep roads.

5. Avoid this dlc like the plague for sure then.  It's a huge dungeon with most of the enemies having 100K health (give or take 10 k)

6. Honestly impossible to say if you'll like the lore in this dlc or not. However, if you like lore that answers questions (not raises far more) I would not recommend.

The companions do have a handful of little comments about things but not more than that.

Have to agree with everyone else. I liked Descent, but I love the Deep Roads and I enjoy dungeon crawling. If you don't like these things, then avoid.

I particularly agree with drummerchick. If you haven't read the novels, they're a fun way to spend a few hours, as are the graphic novels. I'd also recommend the World of Thedas books if you're into DA lore. They're fantastic, obviously no companion banter, but certainly stuff about companions in there :)

Edit: autocorrect

Thank you all! I do get that Descent would be not exactly my usual taste but...I...um...I kinda lost my nerve and bought it.. I knew I would that's why I posted this in the first place...I'm so weak...Anyway, I'll try to enjoy this however I can. And even if I wouldn't enjoy this, I won't complain!

I enjoyed the books as well. The Last Flight specifically was amazing in terms of lore, and really gave the sense of how hard it is to beat kill an Archdemon and end a blight that has been ongoing.
