I don't think he's ugly, he looks quite cute as Warden Alistair.

Don't forget its' been 11 years, so he's like 31 instead of 20.

He looks tired, that's the main thing that takes away from his handsomeness.

I think he's pretty handsome. But I'm over 30 so maybe my standards for "handsomeness" have evolved... 

He makes me think of Prince William Duke of Cambridge (with more hair...!)! Maybe it's something about their noses...

Cullen leached off Alistair's handsomeness in order to transform himself into an LI.

Yeah, that was my first thought too. He's either spent a decade ruling a kingdom, or he's spent a decade fighting darkspawn. Both are high-stress careers that would wear away that fresh-faced look he had back in the day.

His face looks exactly the same. They even got the big nose/square jaw ratio right and the squinty eyes perfectly. He's just got crow's feet now because he's 31 instead of 19, a different hairstyle because people do change their hair in the course of eleven years, and he's not smiling a lot because either his country is being ravaged by war again (if he's king) or he's hearing a fake Calling and being hunted by his own order (if he's a Warden).

 

But he's still the same Alistair as ever, and tbh he looks hotter now as a grown man with life experience to show on his face than his Origins 19 years old kiddo version.

I think he looks fine as king and warden.  The lighting in Redcliffe Castle wasn't really doing anyone any favours but it's the same face as Warden Alistair and he looks fantastic.  A little older and little tired but he's also not 20 anymore.  He's recognisable as Alistair (unlike his DA2 cameo...)

I about puked when I saw the DA2 Alistair.      That Alistair looks like the bartender at the Hanged Man and that was not a good look for him. It took me a little bit to get used to the DA3 Alistair but now that's my favorite look for him.

I didn't like Alistair in DAO,DAII,the trend is the same with DAI on the other hand

Loghain was interesting in DAO,beautiful in DAA and handsome in DAI

the man was a constant improvement

My DA2 Alistair is a drunk. So the old and bloated look fit him well. Which means he wasn't in my world state for Inquisition. I wish drunken Alistair had been in DA:I. Maybe in Redcliffe helping us beat the Venatori with drunken sword style.

Pfffft, he looked like Willem Dafoe in DAI! That's basically like saying the Green Goblin is handsome!

They definitely did a better job in DAI than DA2, but his look in DAI isn't accurate. I think they made his nose much too wide and his mouth disproportionately big. I think Cullen actually looks more like Alistair should have, except for the nose, of course, since Cullen's nose is slightly upturned.

I get it he's older and yes it's true War, Age...Stress does take away someones "youth" but he just doesn't looks himself. TBH I prefer a 30 looking man IRL than a 18 year old. 30's not even old...40-50 alright I get it.

 

Also 11 years since DAO? So wait for 11 years theyve been doing what? No children ..oh right the taint....ahhhh. kk. I'll be quiet now.

 

Remember what they did to Zevran: poor Zev   but that being said I rather have them back then not at all !

I think fans found a third codex entry in DAI for Alistair in which it's said that he rejoined the Wardens in Orlais after coming back from exile in Kirkwall.  This implies that (not)drunk!Alistair was meant to be the warden contact in the worldstate you described and Stroud was a last resort character in case both Alistair and Loghain were dead or king.

 

Would've been interesting.

Seeing more of Zev would have been really cool. I miss the banter....! Am I the only one who gets almost no banter in DAI ..I'll get the occasional chat once every 30 mins but that's it.

i romanced him as my Warden and as his Queen. he's great guy. i can't imagine that he will react to my character in DAI.. putting moves on him even when he still has his queen.. i think it will be fun to see how he does.

Oh Alistair.  I was waffling on whether I wanted to keep the romance with him in my canon worldstate.  Then he turns up in those Warden blues, all snarky and sassy and grown up    Such hot wow.  Much awesome.

The fact that Loghain can be the Warden contact surely disproves that theory?  There's a three year gap between the end of Act III and the start of DAI (plus the time it took for Cassandra and Varric to get to Ferelden) - that's long enough for Hawke to meet the Warden contact and either befriend them (if they're Loghain or former!drunk!Alistair) or get to know them better (warden!Alistair or Stroud).

 

And Alistair is a Warden who fought in the Blight.  Even if he left before the end that would still make him more experienced than any of the Orlasian wardens.

It would be nice if they could.  I'd love to see the reaction of a romanced!Warden Alistair if the Inquisitor tried flirting with him.
