While voice actors are being cast, none have been chosen yet.

I'm really wondering how that process works. Do the writers have any input? After all, they are the ones writing the character.

Loghain's VA was perfect for the role, as an example.

Someone who isn't Laura Bailey for the female protagonist. I don't have anything against her and I think she's a good voice actress, but I'm getting a little tired of hearing her everywhere. I've always kinda pictured Erin Fitzgerald.

Have only really started to know of her recently; she is great on TableTop.

I'd love to have Merle Dandridge as the female protagonist!

I just played Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and she just pulls you in.  Same with The Last of Us.

Normally they have a casting director, a few writers and the producers involved in casting.

Considering BioWare works similarly to a "stock company", where they tend to hire the same actors all the time, its likely they have people in mind already, and just have them audition with others who might be considered.

They have also been tapping into actors outside of the voice over world. For those I remember the producers asking specific actors to do a reading.

Bioware should hire me... Britsh and Deaf, so I have a unique voice... I dunno I could be a malfunctioning computer or something using my natural voice. >_> :P

Bioware's gonna have to put some thought into how they cast.  Depending how far in the future and how long the MW folks have lived in close quarters, the accents should not be varied.  I think they'll need to primarily stick with Canadian/American accents for the bulk of the population unless there is a clear reason why some should have a heavy accent.

Do writers have input? I'm not quite sure of BioWare's process, but I have sat in on auditions during my college days when my ex gf auditioned for parts for a play (she was a theater major).

You would have the Play Director, Writer, and a senior member of the committee (usually a graduate student with the most theater experience).  Then you audition for a role that the "committee" chooses for you, then you read a few lines of the role that you want.

Then they elaborate on which roles are best for you.

Interesting.

Come to think about it, is that is how Claudia Black got the job? ie: she was asked?

Anyway, thanks for the info.

I'm sure that foreign versions of the game will have local talents to voice the language.

I'm a firm believer that esoteric aliens should speak with a distinct voice inflection...ie: Quarians, Drell, Elcor, Hanar, Solarians  and Volus.... forget the Vorcha... don't like them.

I'd love to see (well, hear) Kate Mulgrew voice someone in ME. As well as just having an amazing voice and having done great work on Dragon Age she made me absolutely love her with her short interview on Bioware base

I doubt they will be reusing voice actors from the trilogy. It's entirely possible, but I don't see it happening.

They literally used Zevran's VA to voice the DAI protagonist, so >.< Worst decision ever if you ask me. Oh and also Fenris voiced Samson (major antagonist) and the dwarf guy you give the mosaic pieces to. (So my two previous LIs... thanks, DA team lol ugh).

Well I'll probably play the male protagonist first and most often, so I'm hoping for something not too stereotypically macho/manly/soldier dude, especially if this not a soldier character (I'm hoping for an explorer/outlaw type, but who knows). VAs I've liked so far are male Hawke, British male inquisitor, and American female inquisitor. I didn't like either ME voice; for Mark Meer, he is talented, of course, but I just didn't like the way they purposefully directed him to not emote and sound so flat. I want to play a character who actually has personality.

Garrus's VA actually wouldn't be bad; without the voice altering tech on his voice, he wouldn't recognizable as Garrus, and I think he has a nice voice.

I hope they avoid going with a male VA who sounds like he gargles gravel in between puffs on unfiltered Camels and sips of Wild Turkey.

The gravelly voiced male protagonist is so overused in the video game industry.

I want them to use a sweet, cutesy and girly voice for the female character... which would make the Renegade path hilarious. ^^

(Yes, I am kidding.)

Actually I would like to hear accents, and I would like for their to be noticeable differences between the MW species and Andromedan(?) species.

Keep in mind, it's mostly speculation, but I have seen casting directors and actors talk about it before. Chances are it's the same thing you know.

I'd be amused to hear an NPC couple bickering and it's their voices.

Especially if they are arguing about Shepard.

Please, no FemQuisitor/Traynor as lead - when she raises her voice she goes really shrill and it's annoying as hell.
