Okay, so I spent a frustrating four or five tries on this section last night, and even ultimately enlisted the help of my husband, who doesn't play DA but is good at RPGs in general. Can't freaking get past this part! We've managed to get all the way to the last Emissary, got it down to half health or so, and were completely murdered yet again.

My question is this...anyone have any good tips on how to get through this part? I have a 2H Inquisitor, no spec, close to level 21, and my party consists of Dorian, Vivienne, and Blackwall (no Cass or Solas available because it's from an endgame save, although I used to have both a lot in my party previously). Should I switch up the party? I was thinking of maybe replacing Vivienne with Varric since she's always the first to get killed on this quest and seems weakest in my playthrough.

I've also heard having the Champion specialization helps, dispel, and items with fire resistance are good. Any other tips or tricks to help me get through this? (BTW, laugh now, but I'm already playing on casual so lowering the difficulty is a no-go :P). I know the first time around I somehow completely missed both supply cache locations, so it's also entirely possible I'm derping on something else.

Thanks in advance!

The fight with the Emissary was really tough for me. One issue I had was that my companions kept getting distracted by the respawning mooks and didn't focus on the Emissary so if that's an issue try commanding them to do that.

Sounds like you need to get your specialization, but first, you need to upgrade all your gear and drop Vivienne and grab Sera (thousand cuts focus ability will rip them to shreds). You really gimp yourself in here with 2 mages and no rogue.

Thanks guys! I managed to get it done on the second try today, without the spec and without changing up my team, surprisingly. (First time Blackwall got stuck somewhere inside the map and kinda effed things up for me at the end by DISAPPEARING, haha.)

If anyone else is having trouble, 'cause this section was really tough without knowing the fight, here's what worked for me:

- Using the tactical pause cam, which I did for the first time ever in the game. (I prefer real-time attacks.) Totally helped A TON.

- Messing around with each character's tactics menu before the fight began, and making sure Dorian was using "Dispel" as often as possible and Vivienne was using "Winter's Grasp". Cold and dispel as a combo were beast against the Emissaries.

- Ensuring my 2H used powers like "War Cry" and "Unbowed" every chance I got, so she could take a ton of punishment without taking too much off her health. And spamming "Pommel Strike" when the Ogres grabbed her.

The fight was still long and arduous, but this helped whittle the enemies down little by little instead of me just fighting feeling like I had no chance. I even used just one supply cache this time, so it worked out pretty well. Biggest advice for anyone struggling who normally plays off the cuff like me, is this is a fight you have to know your way around a bit before starting. It's not as easy to wing as most others.

This is probably all straightforward for hardcore players, but I hope it'll help other people who play more for story like me.

I had this problem as well, and that's where using the tactical cam pretty much between each attack helped a lot. I never really felt the need to control my companions in the rest of the game, but this fight is definitely ridiculously hard without micromanaging everybody and making sure they stay focused.
