The Proteans did manipulate their genetics to make them "natual" biotics and they turned them into sexslaves. Their feromones and other atributes tied to that genetic herritage makes them "attractive" to those who meet them.

Their Culture has also evolved along those lines, with Young asari seeking jobs as poledancers and other such occupations, I'm sure the Proteans has some responsibility in that whole thing..

Sooo, Protheans are creepy pervs?

Prothean: ''Hey, if you let me touch ya right about there, you get superpowers.''

I know Collectors were bad but protheans don't sound really epic as well, with their stupid empire.

I was talking more about physical attraction, like you look to someone and think they are beautiful? So, in that aspect, Asari and human females have a lot in common. Of course, the mind sex undoubtedly gives an edge for the Asari, but as far as visually stimulation goes, they are in a close tie.

The problem is that you're thinking about this with the mindset of a human; what a human would find attractive and focus on.

The turian and the salarian in the scene that this horrible debate spawned from weren't focusing on any of the attributes that asari share with human females. They were focusing on the attributes they identify with their own species.

Now, it is certainly possible for aliens to be attracted to humans; we've got at least four aliens that prove that. The BSN and the internet have more than proven than humans can be attracted to the various alien races. But the logic of "aliens find asari attractive, asari look like blue human women with tentacles on their heads, aliens automatically find human women attractive" has some holes in it.

I don't think the Protheans had any role in turning the Asari into biotics.

It was stated that of the known planets Thessia was the most eezo rich in the galaxy, so much so that the entire animal kingdom of the planet had evolved in response to the eezo in the enviroment. Most forms of life were either biotically active or resistant to eezo. It is far more likely then that the Asari being skilled biotics is the result of their evolving naturally on an eezo rich world rather than genetic engineering by the Protheans.

Besides Prothean contact with the Asari didn't occur until 50,000 years before the start of ME1, which is practically yesterday in evolutionary terms. For comparison, our species is about 200,000 years old. We may be even older, it's just that the oldest found fossil of anatomically modern humans dates to about 195,000 years ago. It is always possible that a new find could bump that date back.

The role of the Protheans I think was in giving their civilization a jump start. They had begun an early process of uplifting them similar to the Salarians with the Krogan or Yahg, but I don't think they were responsible for how the Asari evolved.

When it comes to any cross-species sexual attractions (asari included) without any pre-established relationship or "get to know you time" I start to feel a little creeped out. There has got to be some major fetishizing going on there.

Scenario numero uno:

Random turian bar patron: Hey beautiful, wanna go back to my place? I'll show you a great time.
Random human woman: Is that so?
Rtbp: Yeeaahhh...(creepy stare)
Rhw:
Rtbp: Ok honestly, I just got finished reading some fornax and really want to rake my talons through that sexy fur of yours while pumping my boney *expletive* in your squishy *expletive*...
Rhw:  anigif_enhanced-buzz-11624-1377178237-33

Meanwhile the woman contacts Cerberus and has the turian summarily executed.

Scenario numero dos:

Random drell bar patron: Hi I am Ned.
Random human woman: Hi Ned my name is...
Rdbp: (Spastic fit) Skin the colour of the sand, hair soft and scented like a spring rain, lips suggestive of her...

...I'm sorry drell fall into memories so easily.

Rhw: Umm...I should go! (turns her back to leave)
Rdbp: (Quickly dips finger into her drink) Please, I would feel ashamed if I stopped you from finishing your drink.
Rhw: Oh... yeah... might as well. Bottoms up!

Scenario numero tres:

Random turian women in bar: Human you are going home with me tonight!
Human guy: I am?
Rtwib: Yes!
HG: And why is that?
Rtwib: Because I heard you have a grub between you legs and i'm going to snip it off because I need some food.

While you're right that the Protheans had NO role in giving the Asari biotic abilities, I think that they did have a role in making those biotics powerful enough to not need an amp. Though Asari can use amps, most have biotic power enough to be useful without an amp. The biotic potential among the Asari is also rather variable, even if the ability becomes stronger with age.

It's very possible that Prothean meddling to make Asari biotic abilities stronger is what created the Ardat-Yakshi syndrome.
