Why not buff the other 3 factions to put them in line with the Darkspawn?
We have to look at it from all points of view, not just the vets with good gear and such. New people or those with little playing time would have a real hard time.

There are some parts of the faction that appear to be immune to winters graps and some that are immune to fear, not sure which they are.

There you go, everything you could possibly need to know about what is weak to what. I think wavebend also has a thread up but its not as complete.

Yup. That video is the definitive guide to the faction. I won't update my reference guide because I don't intend to, so forwarding people to this video is the best option
I thought this thread was about L2spawncamp so the bolters wont even spawn in the first place. Now frustrated as I was mislead. I would like to know the exaxt location where I can camp so they wont spawn.
Over there , up there and over there!

Just hid in the back for 4 waves until the game crashes at the end of wave 4. Problem solved!
The problem is exactly to those that are, indeed, learning to play. A group of friends I helped yesterday couldn't handle FC/Z4 on threatening (they are beginning to leave routine), probably most players at their levels share the same struggle so I think Bioware should nerf the darkspawn a little on threatening, and leave routine (maybe? I don't know how it is for newcomers)/peri/nightmare as they are.
i like your post wavebend.
looks like mages are op.

Funnily enough, I played as the Templar against Darkspawn on Threatening yesterday and it was incredibly easy. Bolters and Genlocks would do 1 damage to my front. Oddly though, while I have good gear (but not endgame), I have next to no promotions and didn't even have Turn the Bolt. I have yet to fight them with someone else, but with that class they sure don't need a nerf.
I have 113 cunning. They do 160 to 200 dmg per bolt on nightmare. They fire like 10 bolts at a time. Very short cooldown compared to DD's icebeam.
Edit: The projectiles are faster = harder to dodge than the icebeam. There is more DPS per shot/DPS per mook than icebeam. Can not take a potion such as ice potion to negate the damage since it is physical.
Sure I can "L2P" and manage, dosen't make the bolters not OP.
It is very clear that the bolters are imbalanced compared to their compatriots.
^I've less promotions than you and, while they gave me trouble there, I don't think they should touch NG. It's for oldfarts players, and those seeking to struggle if they are up for it. Or, those that have friends to give them a sweet ride, but that's not the point.
That said, it's funny how heavily promoted players, owners of OP weapons/equipment feel the need to share their biased opinion on lower levels. Go to heartbreaker, you are more than ready for it, dearies. Not talking about Wavebend post, it is fine and offer good advice, the tittle could've been less inflammatory, though

The game isn't balanced for templar only, and they have to account for all classes/characters and the intrinsic variation that pug/newcomers life offers. Including lag, bugs, lack of conversation, etc etc That's my only problem with the darkspawn, on easier difficulties. Isn't a friendly faction for players that are learning, the bolters+others don't give them time to react and adjust.
Funnily enough, bolters finally give me a good use of shield wall on templar which I am not using as much as I should. One shot from them brought my whole guard up.
(well, then brought it down again, but that's a minor detail!)
andwynwyn, I had some trouble understanding your first paragraph, NG stands for new gamers? Reading the rest of the post, I feel that we do agree somewhat on the subject, which makes me glad.
I can only offer my opinion on Nightmare, since It is where I spend most of my playtime. My opinions for peri and below would be a biased ones. Although I do see newer players on Peri getting rocked with one spray from the bolters while they were doing fine up until the Bolters. Can not read their mind but I would assume they also think the bolters are OP.
the best way I saw to beat them was have someone in party play as a shield user and let the archer 1shot them with long shot ...... provided there is enough distance to the first one in line you can kill them all in a single skill, of course it helps to have a decent bow a few promotes and be above lvl 7 but it seemed perfectly doable on the 3 times I got them whilst playing archer
@ Bearform, nightmare. Sorry for my laziness!
I have 141 cunning. Bolters seem pretty balanced to me. ![]()
Nice. I guess it is not a L2P issue, but a L2promote issue.

As is pretty much everything in this game. Most high promoted players will tell you its their 'skill' that takes them through it though. Promotions and gear is everything. Skill, not so much. Medallian and Drasca are a prime example of this.
I'm not sure if most high promoted players would claim that "skills" is everything. I think most would agree that it is their promotion that bring them success. That is hard to disagree with, I think even Medallian know that it is his promotions that bring him success.
Not to say that people with high promotions lack skill. I said it before, the distribution curve of "skill" likely are the same for low and high promoted players. Skill however, I do agree that skill factor less into the equation of success, than pure promotions.

Im not having this debate again. The only thing in this game that matters is promotions and gear. Thats it. No skill required. Medallian can do heartbreaker while simultaneously being one of the worst players i have ever seen on video. Drasca cannot even put together more than 1 virtuoso song, cant figure out how to use a controller and thinks that its his 'skills' that puts him on top.
We see this time and time again, people who boast about their 'skills' on BSN and talk down to others like they are a piece of trash, when the only difference is that they have a silly amount of free time to grind promotions. The sole reason why they are able to do heartbreaker and nightmare without breaking a sweat is because they have the defenses to withstand more than 2 high damage attacks.
Promotions and gear = success in this game. Nothing more.
I tried all of the strategies above. They still spawned! Pls halp! I'm having issues with learning how to L2P. I thought this issue was ironed out on beta
Your knack for sarcasm is sublime.

Agreed.
edit: I'll also add that most players overlook the coop aspect of this game and excessively rely on player "skills" (which take 1 week to master at most). People fail to comprehend that a coop game is all about coordination and playing roles that do not overlap with each other. i.e. everyone has to survive on his/her own within a team instead of everyone contributing to the survivability of the entire team. Ultimately this is nothing more than a casual game where time invested in grinding promotions will make you far, far more powerful than any strate-skills

That's because you cover it with my 142 constitution. ![]()
Pork. Not sure if you understood or not, but I agree with you. Promotions are the most important factor for success in the game.
Thank you, JAMiAM. I see sarcasm as the Hakkon weapons, Only effective if someone has a lot of cunning. People will only see the sarcasm if they have a lot of cunning in real life.
