So help me out here.

After seeing the trailer it made me wonder a few things.

1. Why did the Reapers stop at the Milky way galaxy? Let's say they had managed to wipe out the galaxy, would they have stopped there or continued on to other galaxies to wipe them out?

Would they have eventually arrived at Andromeda? If not, why didn't everyone just pack up the moment the reaper invasion was known to be a guarantee and head to a new galaxy and start anew?

2. Why is the main guy still flying the N7 colors? Are the Systems Alliance Military on Andromeda? Since this is a new galaxy shouldn't the governing unit be something other than the Systems Alliance?

Hopefully someone can help me out here on these couple of question.

I don't think we exactly know just how far the Reaper's reach might be, but during the time of the trilogy, traveling to a new galaxy was not as simple as "packing up and going." That's not tech that, within the context of the lore, just anyone has at their fingertips.

1. The A.I. was program to protect the races that "give" tribute to the "leviathans" maybe the reach wasn't so extent to get to another galaxy.

2. The N7 was chosen because is a recognizable symbol to the Mass Effect universe, to the significance of including it in the lore of the new game, anyone (human, even they take mercenaries to oppose the reapers) can train to become an N1,2,3,4,5,6,7 (N7 being the top level of specialization)

As they declared the N7 guy in the  trailer wasn't our protagonist, i suspect and hope we will gain step by step our N7 rank.

We have no evidence that they did stop at the Milky Way galaxy. For all we know, the 50,000 years between cycles is taken up by them harvesting other galaxies.

At the time of the Reaper War, our cycle is nowhere near technologically advanced enough to get to Andromeda. Plus all resources went to the war effort and the Crucible.

The sojourn to Andromeda would be a huge venture, requiring several different species working together to pull it off. With them not knowing what's in Andromeda, it makes sense they send some military forces as a defense force for the venture. Plus why throw away good armor just because of the colors it flies?

Merchandising.

Seriously.  Google "mass effect gear" and check out all the N7 shirts, jackets, shoes, backpacks, messenger bags, hats, ties, coffee mugs, baby clothes, etc. for sale.  At the end of the day EA has shareholders, and they only care about one thing.  It's just the reality of the industry.

I saw the N7 simply as a way to tell us that it's Mass Effect. Without it, I could have been watching an edgy Borderlands trailer for all I know.

We don't know that they didn't yet, but if they didn't the answer is likely programming. Reapers were a stupid solution to a inane problem, so if their creator didn't extend their purpose beyond the galaxy, then they don't have a reason to go to other galaxies.

Johnny Cash can wear what he damn well wants.

They can still have N7s in their ranks, or tagging along. Or maybe the armor is stolen. We don't know yet.

Sigh......

Shep's trilogy is ended and so are the Reapers.... Said Reapers belong in the  now dead trilogy stories....

Next

Bio is now concentrating on a new game, new story, new characters. The game will have a Mass Effeect feel, in that it will have familiar weapons, combat mechanics, biotics, a squad of two, romance, aliens.... etc

Next next.

Bio will give the player nods to the now dead trilogy, such as a Mako, N7 patch, familiar races (ie: Krogan and Solarian) but NO RETURNING CHARACTERS as they make no sense in the story.

 Hope this is helpful.

There are Armors that look quite a lot like N7 armor, but are fake(Conrad Verner wears it in ME2).

1. According to Vigil, the reapers would normally enter the Milky Way via the Citadel Mass Relay. I've theorized that the Citadel may operate similar to a Borg Transwarp hub and this is possibly how we get to Andromeda. In this case, regardless of how shiny things are back on Earth, there will always be a human drive to expand and colonize further than before. In my opinion, we're picking up the Mass Effect Universe just as Citadel races expand into a new frontier. (Have you seen how fast Krogan can pop them out?)

2. I'm assuming the protaginist N7 will basically be playing the role of Nihilus. In Andromeda, your character may be asked to join the N7 depending on (I'm theorizing here) what background you pick. Some players have mentioned that they wished the could have joined cerberus, or been a straight up mercenary, so I'm somewhat hopeful you can get some choice to start with the Alliance, as a Mercenary, or private military group.

Since the N7 is a vocational code of the Alliance Military, I'm assuming they will have some influence in a military role, although we don;t know how large that will be. The Systems Alliance is the governing body for Human planets and colonies and military. I don't see the need to change it from a lore perspective. I figure Andromeda is just political posturing by colonizing new worlds.

Hopefully someone can help me out here on these couple of question.

Some have already given answers I agree with but I will add to that. The question can't quite be answered by evidence based in the universe. However, the answer is simple if you take a step back, It is a game.

Bioware is not Omnipotent. They probably didn't picture themselves going to Andromeda back when they created the first game. In the manner they are going there now it may be best for them to engineer a clean break from the first trilogy. I believe if Reapers did visit Andromeda Bioware would write it so the civilisations of Andromeda sent them on their way easily and quickly.

Now that we know the next game will be based in Andromeda it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect new things. I believe already established things in the Mass Effect Universe, like N7, are Bioware's attempt to ease the majority of old players that are resistant to change into this new setting by surrounding them with things they already know and understand. I am sure you have already heard people calming fears with statements like 'Its still a mass effect game, its just in another galaxy'.

I think if this game was set in the milkyway, a hundred or two hundred years in its future then no one would be wearing N7 in the trailer.

Being a logical bunch, I would have thought that the Reapers would realise that eventually in the fullness of time, there will be inter-galactic travel and the 'solution' would need to be more wide spread.  Team Milky Way seem to have successfully done exactly that, which could force the Reapers' hand.
