As for getting the banner, there's always the Kroguard Geth Giant/White route, probably the easiest way to do a Gold solo, and also the one with the most bonus laughs

I went into extraction wave with five gels... as such, it turned out pretty mellow. The closer that clock was to 0:00, the happier/more incredulous I was, that much is true.

As for the next one... I'd love for Valkyrie to be the one who did it. She's a beast in team games, but honestly, I'm not sure I have the skill to do a full solo with her. And against which faction? She's at her most lethal against Reapers, but banshees have a way of sneaking up on me and gutting me when I least expect it. Cerberus does their usual BS routine, so I'm not really comfortable with the idea. As for geth... no sync kills and a lot of shields to replenish my barriers, but also biotic explosions being much less effective and getting close to geth is usually just asking for troubles... Hell, I'd love to do it with any of the asari, but they are just too fragile in my arms.

I think Decoy played a big part in this success. Plop it down and the toasters seem to go berserk about it. Seriously, I was amazed at how eager they were to punish that poor holographic image. I hear human engie's drone has similar properties... I may give HFE with Adas a try. More than likely, I'll just do the same setup again, to get that banner I covet so much and fool around with different setups after that

Geth Scanner helps a lot with dealing with sync kill units, some people will tell you it's OP, cheesy and broken - but who cares?

I used the Valkyrie + Arc Pistol for my first non-Krogan solos, though I stayed on Giant.  I find it much easier to solo (thanks Cain), and the only map where I seem to be able to manage Banshees in particular. I played her in an almost opposite style to how I would in a team game - keeping everything at distance, safe in the knowledge that AF would keep me safe if I lost track of where the husks were. It was fun and very satisfying - especially getting a wave 10 hack up in the upper room with the spawn safely at the LZ.  I can't remember my build, though it was probably a 4/4 split between TA and Fitness. Geth Scanner, Incendiary Ammo IV and a Cyclonic IV would have been an inevitability at that stage too. And why not, right?!

 

If there was one thing I needed to keep reminding myself, it was this: "There's no rush, take your time" - which, as I said, is kinda the opposite of how you, me or anyone else would normally play the Valkyrie.

I agree that, with a cyclonic 4, 3 in fitness can be enough. But can you get tech bursts with that build ?

Well the Decoy stuns Geth crowds, and you just Incinerate them   I think the shock primes, but I could be wrong. But even the shock is pretty good to keep them at bay and continue to cluster.

The Shock detonates, but can't prime.  The build comes from a discussion in the "engineer solo" thread. The idea was to be able to detonate 6+6 TB and FE on demand, hence the recharge speed evos on Incinerate and Energy Drain (those two powers have both a 3 seconds priming duration).

The recharge spec on ED is superior in his case because both of his powers only prime for 3 seconds (as well as the fact that DPS> shields). How often are you actually below 50% shields when you are using it at least every 5 seconds or so? Not often if you are actually decent at the game, and especially if you took the 40% DR at rank 6, which makes him into a verifiable tank with 1890 shields.

Burn damage is DOT, so It really isn't all that great unless you are cheesing (which in fairness he did use Incendiary), have stacked tons of direct power damage (like an Amp IV and freeze combo on a QFE) or are killing so slow that the target is actually going to live for 8 seconds (which should only happen in the case of geth with motherfucking primes, which should be nuked on site anyway). I still would have taken it over recharge with the fairly lightweight Adas, but it isn't all that important either way.

I don't think shock primes. It doesn't on the Sentry turret or drone. Explosive decoy detonates, but it's sort of stupid to actually rely on it for doing that since enemies are derp.

Well, with full energy drain you can get by with less fitness. And burning damage is great, no need to diss it  And shock on Decoy is good, because is stuns and forces the Geth to cluster around it, which is perfect for TB's and FE's. It can even stun Primes, excuse me - Mothereffin Primes.

Well, I tried doing it Grunt's way... arc Valkyrie vs Reapers on Giant. She did... good, but not good enough. I tried doing Adas HFE on Reactor vs geth... failed miserably, since I don't know the map. In the end, I went back to the same combo that earned me my first success. Shaved off about three minutes from previous try, almost managed 10WS(sneaky pyro burned me on wave 8) and...
