For example I let the counsil die, I let Kaiden Die, I chose Captain Anderson to lead the new counsil, I had a relationship with Ashley, and Ashley killed Wrex. How much of this is going to largely alter ME2 vs if I would have let the Counsil live, put Udina on the Counsil, let Wrex survive, killed Ashley ect. Does the actions in the first game make a big impact on the 2nd or does it slightly alter the second game.
When continuing your ME 1 campaign on ME2 does it make any major changes to the game?

Yes, it makes a pretty big impact. In fact, that's really what sets ME2 apart imo, though it's a great game in its own right, it's the carry over that makes it special.

YES! It makes a huge impact, like...
************SPOILER WARNING!!!!!************
If you let Udina become the head of the Council in the first one, he starts acting like a typical politician in ME2. He doesn't want to see you, plays dirty politics (so I hear) and is blindsighted. If you let the council die in ME1, they will not see you as they fear you only care forhuman interests and not all of space. If I had put Anderson on the Council I would have gotten my Spectre status back in ME2.

You don't have to go back to switch your pick for councillor. You can do change your choice at the beginning of ME2.

Yes. I chose Udina instead of Anderson just to see what Miranda would say. I saved the council and gave the seat to Anderson. Then she shocks me with her response 'yeah your memory seems solid' So yeah, I'm assuming this lets you change your choice. I was happy but then thought of those to beat the game multiple times to keep all options open. >.>

Just wanted to point out that if you choose the default Shepard as a new character all the major plot points are preset and you can't change them. Miranda only asks your reason for letting Kaidan die and how you survived the attack on Akuze. Other default major plot points include Shepard letting the council die and choosing Udina as head of the council.
