So I have just started the mass effect trilogy like 2 weeks ago and I am about to finish the 3rd game and I realize that my comments may have already been requested and thought about and I have been reading comments on other sites saying that andromeda will not have many mentions of the original trilogy and if this rumor is true I think that is a bad idea. The original trilogy should be effected by some of the choices made in the originals but if people haven't played than the game can still be played. My reasoning is that if the new series has hints and other things from the games people are more likely to play the other series just to effect the new game. While if it doesn't have any mention or correlation to the originals they may still play the originals but are less likely to. Bottom line if you want to reach a new audience and still sell the old games I think it would be better if you had the originals effect the new. After all this is a mass effect.

I think it's time to cut the cord and start new.
There are so many state flags between one player's endgame and another, it's just prohibitive to move those decisions ahead when the team needs to focus on working on the new setting. I'm certain if anything from the previous trilogy gets referenced, it's going to get glossed over, for convenience.
For example, there has been a sighting of a Krogan in the new trailer. Regardless of whether you cured the genophage or not in ME3, credit will never be referenced to commander Shepard. I'm thinking that in Andromeda's setting if you don't cure the genophage in ME3, it could be Padok Wiks (If you shot Mordin), or Maelon Heplorn (If you don't shoot him in ME2, and shot Padok Wiks in ME3), or some random Salarian a few years later, just to make Krogran offspring a thing. (And please developers, no more genophage side stories). Too many Variables.

Probably didn't scan every ... single ... f***ing ... planet ... in ME2 - that takes about a month on its own *sighs*

Having the original affect the new can be a double edged sword though as it can limit story telling, characters, plot details since so many flags would need to be considered.
The big flags would be surviving races: <Note: I am assuming the game takes place after the events of ME3> If they decide to make a character for the new game using Krogan, Geth, or Quarian there is a huge plot issue here if any if these races got wiped out in ME3. They would need to be replaced for playthroughs where the race was killed or off or need to be given exclusive dialog to explain how they are still alive (both costing additional resources to varying degrees).
Just sometimes a fresh start can re invigorate a franchise.
I could see them setting up something similar to the keep to generate a Universe State. But a Universe without the Krogan is not a Universe I would want to live in ![]()

It's set (a long time) after the events of the original trilogy and a Krogan squadmate has already been basically confirmed.

I know, I was showing what would have happenned if they used flags from previous games.

"About to finish the third game."
The last 20 minutes of the third game is pretty much what everyone's talking about, but personally, it has been my lived experience since finishing ME2.
No, the right path is to set fire to the whole thing and start over. It's nigh irredeemable.

Right. The series was already failing at this in ME3, according to a lot of folks here. A bit unfair, since Bio did better at this than any other company ever has -- then again, most other companies are too sensible to try doing it.

Well I did scan the planets but not because I was looking for minerals but because I was looking for missions. But I am sure that what you said is true I didn't want to spend that much time doing it so I didn't.

"Better than any other company ever has" still doesn't mean "did well"

I'd agree, although the seeds were laid for this as early as ME1 and made even worse with ME2. Bioware being the first company to ever try something like this, it was more likely than not to fail. Given that their last two games (KotOR and Jade Empire) were largely stand alone in terms of choices/consequences, it felt like the series was written in the style of those games, without considering they would actually have to return to the same universe with ME2 and later 3.
