That's right! Co op MP confirmed.

I can't find the specific source the site uses for the information, but this is important news.

Mass-Effect-Andromeda-main-character-e14

Mass Effect: Andromeda is still far from release, but BioWare has revealed some new details about game’s big-size world and gameplay modes, which includes co-op multiplayer.

According to the Canadian developer, gamers will enjoy co-op multiplayer in a “really big” galaxy when Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Mass Effect development director Chris Wynn suggested on Twitter that it’s on track to release in Holiday 2016, despite still being in an early stage of development.

ALSO READ: Mass Effect Andromeda Has Combat Similar to Mass Effect 3

Not long ago, GameTribute broke the story that Mass Effect: Andromeda runs run on an entirely new engine designed for the latest PS4, Xbox One and PC hardware. Lending more credence to that report, Wynn admitted that the game offers gamers a “really big” galaxy when compared to the earlier Mass Effect titles.

I don’t know about you, but we take “really big” to mean “ridiculously massive.” Fortunately, BioWare made sure not to make it a barren universe, having incorporated many exciting things for the most intrepid of space adventurers to do.

Co-op multiplayer makes a return, adding more variety to gameplay. It was a very enjoyable part of Mass Effect 3, but let’s hope it’s even better this time around.

Will Mass Effect: Andromeda be ready for a holiday 2016 release? Will co-op multiplayer add to the fun? Head to the comments section and let us know what you want to see in the game.

Assuming the article is true.  When it says co op MP in a "really big" galaxy.  That is how I interpret it.  Obviously this would be purely optional, but that is the way I understand it.  Normal co op would not be in a "galaxy", but on specific maps.

It's a confirmation of something everyone expected, including the ones who didn't want it, so I'm not really seeing how it is "the most important announcment of all."

Comparatively, the return of vehicular exploration was a bigger piece of news.

That's a really long shot, at no point it mention "campaign co-op".

It is because a lot of the people here get extremely fired up, but MP news is good news.

I disagree about the return of the Mako.  I hated the Mako and it is the biggest reason I rarely play ME to this day.  I never have to 100% games, but I do have to do a lot of the content.  That said I just don't like the vehicles in general.  I didn't like the Hammerhead either (WAY better than the Mako though).  It was news, but not big news or good news to me.

I think it can go either way.  Very strange way to word it for the traditional map based co op of the past.  I think this is confirming both IMO.  Obviously I don't know, but to say that to just to say the same co op is returning doesn't add up IMO.

It's not a question of liking, it's a question of how big the news is.

MP was a huge success in ME3, so you'd be mad to not expect it in MEA.
Vehicular exploration were not seen since Overlord, so it was much more subsantial, and revealed more about how the game design is going to be.

If there was any details it would be news, but it's just "there is co-op, period", yeah that sure was totally unexpected.

More likely, the co-op is an entirely different mode linked to SP story-wise, just like ME3MP and DAIMP.

Judging by the forums and the amount of rage, the MP was loved and a welcome addition to the game, but the SP was hated.  Even after the new ending.

Edit: oh wait, it says "got". Past tense. Now the other replies make more sense... The curse of not being fully awake.

Oh yes, the famous GameTribute reveal article that swept over the internet :P

This is just another lazy attempt at getting lots of clicks from our fanbase. I wouldn't reward them for it.

Co-op, if true, is one feature that I would be looking forward to. It was, to me, so enjoyable.

Though, co-op play and big galaxy  in the same sentence makes no sense.

An article that explains better is here:

ME3 co-op play is not the normal multiplayer environment. You can play solo against an AI controlled hostile force to get the "feel" for it, then move on to play as a squad (with a group of four).  Enemies were all from the SP game. The desert sand storms and heavy snow fall maps were quite enjoyable as they gave you a FOG of WAR illusion.

My main reason for disliking MP is the inherent grinding designed into the maps with micr$transactions as the only way to advance quickly.

It's information, I'll grant you that.  But most important?  Only if you were hoping beyond all other things that there would be co-op MP, in which case that's lovely for you.  Otherwise... sorry, but it's not terribly interesting.

As happy as I would be with simply taking this news at face value and focusing on what I want instead of what I read, I cannot do this.  The Multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 was technically Co-Op and, based on rumors, Andromeda is slated to have an improved version of that.  There is no specification that this means Campaign/Story Co-Op.

That being said, I would love to play the story mode with my friends.  Exploring a planet by yourself sounds very boring.

How exactly is the fact that it will be running on frostbite 3 news? That was known as early as march 2013...

Are you saying that if ME: A offers players the choice to bring a friend or two in their SP world and play the "SP" with them if they choose to that you will not buy the game?

If so, what is wrong with options and different ways of playing the game?

Why?  If it's a totally optional experience that isn't required in any way, why would you be against that?  And if you're going to cite the old "because it takes away resources from the rest of the game," please don't.  It simply doesn't work that way and I have explained this fact too many times to go over it again.

So what's your beef with Co-Op?  It is merely the principle of the thing or do you just not like change?

Yup exactly and obviously you are smart enough to understand that you can't make a co-op experience inside the SP component of the game without drastically change said component to the point it won't be a SP game anymore. It would end up like Dead Space 3 or Borderlands. I HATE them both. I play SP to enjoy a good story and BW crafted characters, no need for me to bring friends in SP. Just play MP for that.

I agree with this.

I can see how the second player wouldn't have a good time, being forced to wait during cutscenes. They would essentially be taking a back seat to most of the action, and that doesn't seem very fun to me. Possibly expand on the MP more and create some story missions for it, sure, but let's leave SP how it is.
