For some reason I don't get any feedback for issuing the HOLD command on pc. There realyl should be, though. I THINK I used to get an open palm icon similar to the previous games a while back, was this removed in a patch? Is there a setting, or maybe it's an issue with my upgrade to Win10? Am I beginning to imagine things?

Known issue.  Never addressed in any patch.

And the lack of "feedback", as you called it may be a blessing... since you can't actually get your party to HOLD in the first place!

I think my time to solve the Elven puzzle has been going up, not down, over my last few playthroughs.   I get so frustrated when I hop back to the character who is supposed to be standing at the master lever, only to find s/he's moved right behind me, that I scream at the screen.  It's ridiculous.  ohgeez-1.gif

Hold only works if you stay in Tac Cam the whole time you want someone to hold (and even then it seems to bug sometimes). If you go back to regular cam, the hold commands reset. It's dumb and very awkward to use, but the devs haven't shown any interest in changing it despite many, many requests to fix it.

I think the little icons only show up when you pause the game.

I'm sure there are reasons.

Ah that blows. Even DA2 got that right.

I can confirm that hold works while paused.

You can even hold the enemies this way!

No seriously, the hold position function is utterly broken.

It's riddiculous, I mean, how do you screw up something so simple, as disabling party movement after pushing a button?

I pressed the hold button, expecting something awesome to happen, but it never did.

That's false advertising right there.

This is about the "Hold position" icon and label that display next to the character portraits in the UI.

It exists, but only when you pause the game (probably if you drop into tactical view too).

It was a joke :)

Yeah, I know. I never bothered with it, but I did notice that tactical mode and regular action mode are two different modes that do not talk to each other. If you set any command in tac mode and then drop out of it to action, the command is cancelled. I hope they don't include that 'feature' in future games. Just make commands stick all the time, even in action mode.

I suspect they simply didn't include quality of life features in action mode because it was a  carbon copy of multiplayer where multi character commands are not needed.
