Reading that page, apparently it's a bug.  The map is located in the same room that you find Valena (the Smith's daughter) in, after the Landsmeet, but that entire area of the castle is off limits by then.  It's obtainable using a workaround with the debug in the console or with a linked mod (Probably the Additem mod) which are both only usable on the PC version of the game I think?

Remember, with FeastDay gifts you can raise his approval.  I know you wanted to do it with maps, but you can give him the map and roleplay that it allowed him to grow closer to you than just 10 points worth.  Like maybe ya'll sat up late planning the battle to come using the map or how you were going to move the troops to Denerim in time to do some good.

And ate lots of tasty cakes while doing it. :D

Hmm then I'll give him that special gift I got with the DLC then. I guess it's better to roleplay the moment when I give him Maric's shield then an old map of Orlais  :P

But I guess I can raise approval also by picking the right dialogue choices, not only gifts?

I need a high approval to make him accept the ritual (I'll save just before and try both endings, the one with the sacrifice and the one with the ritual).

Yep, you can raise his approval with dialogues too.  I got him to do the DR and his approval was only at 11.

Oh, so we don't really need his approval for the DR?

Or it's like with Morrigan and the shapeshifting: he agress only with low approval?

If he likes you too much he wants to sacrifice for you?  :P (or "no, Warden, I have eyes only for you, I won't have sex with Morrigan")

I don't know.  My warden was male, but I was roleplaying a very specific personality.  He was with Leliana and didn't want to cheat on her.  Besides, Morrigan's dialogue with a male warden who just wants to be friends was remarkably vulnerable and sweet (for Morrigan).  I only gave him the one map I could find and didn't think of boosting him with feast day gifts.  I gave persuading him a shot and it worked even at very low approval.

I think at that point he's just so beaten he just doesn't want to argue about anything.  After all, he spent an entire year arguing with all of Ferelden, and trying to keep Howe on a leash.  He has to be pretty emotionally exhausted by then.

Yes, it's just that I've read somewhere that for the ritual he needed a high approval, but maybe it's wrong.

I just hope it's not the contrary. If he refuses I'll sacrifice my warden, but I wanted to see both endings.

Did you make a save before committing to Redcliffe castle?  That would require a little backing up but it's doable.  Or can you buy Feast day gifts from Bodahn in Redcliffe?  Just be sure to make a save right after talking to Eamon or Riordan, or even after Morrigan makes her offer, before you say yes or no.  But I do know I got him to do the ritual with an 11 approval.

*Edit* It could also be I had a very high persuasion.  Roland was a rogue and a sweet talker.

I have the highest persuasion ever, I use it all the time on Alistair when he starts barking at me.

Alistair: "How could have you killed Connor!!!??? he was a child!!! that's cruel!!!"

Me (persuasion): Please Alistair, shut up, I do what I want.

Alistair: Ah, ok then.

Loghain: I don't want to do the ritu...

Me (persuasion): You will. And bring me a chocolate cake and prepare me a hot bath.

Loghain: Yes Commander.

:P

In my first playthough I killed Isolde. This time I wanted to save them both but I knocked on the wrong door and bam, battle against Connor, and he died, so...

I'm not at the ritual yet in my new playthrough, I just finished the Circle of Magi and didn't even went to the Sacred ashes or Orzammar yet.

I have always Zevran with me. He is one of the best damage dealer among the companions. When I play as a mage, I take Leliana or Morrigan for extra fire power, and one of the figthers (usually Alistair or Sten).

When I play as a rogue, I take Wynne for heailing, and one of the fighters (same as above)

I never use Oghren, I can't stand him. the burping jokes get boring pretty soon and his drunken demeanor too.

I have Extra Dog Slot, so Sherlock (I always name the dog after my favorite literature characters) is always with me. I'm not that fond of Leliana or Morrigan, but I try to use every companion (except for Oghren - he is only there in the Branca quest)

There are only two companions I almost never use.

One of them is Zevran because he's pretty useless in battle and the other is Oghren for being a late addition in the story.

Same here I don't tend dto use Zevran much either. I did in my last playthrough but mainly due to the fact I was romancing him though.  Usually I take Leliana as I find her moer versatile in battle as well as having a nicer more caring personality. In Origins I usua;lly go with the strategy of 2 warriors 1 rogue 1 mage. As for which I take and when that uasually depends on the mission. If it's one of the main primar ymission then I usually go with Wynne purely because she's a healer and generally I find in the main mission's you can be under heavy attack at times so tend to need those powers in those circumstances.I tend to use Morrigan more on secondary missions where healing isn't so much of an issue. Usually as I said Leliana fills the rogue role. As for warriors it's usually Alistair as he's a sword and shjield warrior. I tend alternate between Sten,Shale and Oghren for the other warrior spot seeing as they're all very similar in that they play the heavy handed tank type role. Having said that I don't think I'll be calling on them much in my current run as I'm playing that role myself this time.

Origins:

Most used: Leliana (fav rogue for chests), Shale/Alistair (tank), Morrigan/Wynne (depends of my Warden occupation).

Most unused: Dog, Sten, Zevran, Oghren.

Awakening;

Most used: Sigrun/Nathaniel, Justice, Anders/Velanna (depends if i need a healer or a damage dealer).

Most unused: Oghren.

The ones i use the least aren't because i dislike them, it's just that usually they not fit my way of play. Doesn't matter how i edit Oghren's tactics he will always go on a suicide rampage.

Well he is a Beserker. But yeah I tend to use him moer in Awakening than in Origins myself. Even then I don't use him that much. I like his character but gameplay wise he does have a tendency to go down a lot.

Zevran, because non-bow Rogue AI sucks, and I already have Leliana for my support ranged DPS Rogue.

Maybe you could respec him with a mod? I always do that, when I'm not playing arogue myself, because I don't want to drag Leliana along all the time (she is too girlie and too pious for my taste)

Origins: Mostrly used: Alistair, Morrigan and Wynne. I have the Extra Dog Slot mod since I can't leave my pooch behind. XD

Least used: Leliana. I almost always play as a Rogue Archer anyway.

Most stuff in boxes you don't really need anyway.  Just devote some points to his trap/lock picking skills when he levels up some.  He should catch up right quickly.  LOL I love it, he claims to pick locks and what not and has absolutely zero skill in it.  I wonder if Bioware did that on purpose.

yeah I have the same problem as I like my rogues to be vresatile. Zevran doesn't have that quality whereas Leliana is a solid all rounder pretty much everything I give her to do she does well. That's why I use Leliana as my primary go to rogue in DAO

They don't level up when we don't take them with us? or they still do?

Because just in case, in my team I keep him and Leliana (because of the lock picking) and Shale.

It's just a bit boring, almost all the questions in the banter about Leliana are about her faith, religion, etc.

They do level up even if you leave them in camp.  Just make sure you have auto level turned off so you can assign what you want to their points when they do gain a level.

no.  a suggested flirtation between nate and velanna but no romances for warden. Not even flirtations.

Generally my Warden is often alone he is a stealth warrior,i go alone to most quests.
(console commands he  know every warrior and rogue skill, that's why i called him stealth warrior)
His only support in party is generally Loghain (which is a rogue in the lore not a warrior),he doesn't need anyone else.

I'm just sad that the game doesn't give to you the possibility to obtain Loghain before the Landsmeet, but still the cinematic cutscenes are mostly for him in DAO.

@ Aren: your character seems very interesting :) yes I can totally imagine the two lonely warriors, Loghain and the Warden, fighting the darkspawn!

I think Loghain was made to integrate the team sooner, but for scenario reasons the Landsmeet is almost at the end and so you can take him with you only towards the end. It saddens me, too, that's why I keep all the quests I can (the DLC ones, Return to Ostagar, etc) for the end, to have at least some game content with him.

@ Sylvanaerie: Oh, I wish there was some romance. Or a cameo little dialogue romance for the wardens who had a romance in DAO.
