@ Aren: your character seems very interesting :) yes I can totally imagine the two lonely warriors, Loghain and the Warden, fighting the darkspawn!

I think Loghain was made to integrate the team sooner, but for scenario reasons the Landsmeet is almost at the end and so you can take him with you only towards the end. It saddens me, too, that's why I keep all the quests I can (the DLC ones, Return to Ostagar, etc) for the end, to have at least some game content with him.

@ Sylvanaerie: Oh, I wish there was some romance. Or a cameo little dialogue romance for the wardens who had a romance in DAO.

Another one who i would have loved to have in the group was Riordan,i find him to be interesting, but he isn't companion sadly.

There is a letter from your DAO LI (rather brief though)

Hmmm, better than nothing, I guess :(

If Alistair is the king and you are playing his Mistress/Queen, there is a short sweet scene briefly between the warden and him after the initial boss fight.  Otherwise, aside from the letters from Leliana and Zevran (nothing from Warden Alistair), and an epilogue card regarding the LI, there is no mention.

Origins:

Most used: Alistair, Morrigan, Zevran.
Most unused: Dog, Oghren, Sten.

Awakening;

Most used: Nathaniel, Anders, Oghren.
Most unused: Justice, Velanna.

Yeah I don't use Oghren much in Origins but I think that's mainly because I leave Orzammar till as late as possible. Mostly because it's not my favouriet level in the game and I also find it quite hard. Although I did get through it easily yeasterday but I did take it slow.

I mostly used Zevran for lock picking and Wynne for healing. Hardly ever used Oghren but the rest were average.

In awakening I never took Velanna because I didn't like her. remember using sigrun and oghren often becasue I was a mage and needed more warriors.

Leli and Wynne are used most. Then Morrigan and a split between Shale/Alistair.

I neglect Zev, Og, and Sten. Dog gets a little more time than those.

In Awakening, is it better to start a new hero, or to keep the same one as before? (story-wise) ?

Definitely, at least for story, its better to continue with your original HoF
however having said that, it is not essential...
I wish there had been, at least more, 'feedback' with your LI

Story-wise, if your hero survived Origins, it's far better to play with him/her.  I finished Awakenings with a King Cousland, a Queen Cousland, my 'canon' Surana and I played some with the Orlesian warden (though I didn't finish) just to see what changes considering how Fereldans feel about the Orlesians.

I'd recommend at least playing some of it with the Orlesian after playing through with your Origins PC as it presents you with a slightly different perspective, though it is rather detached from the events of the first game.

I only wish I could play through DAA as an Orlesian, when I import my US Wardens.

I played on console btw..so no mods.

I thought they give you an Orlesian warden if you got US?

Nope.. it's a little weird, but on the plus side, once you import it all into DA2, it assumes an Orlesian who didn't know Anders/Merrill/etc..

Whos that alternative character they give you if you have US then? I thought she/he was Orlesian.

It's still your DAO Warden.. it's like it assumes you never died and you just play through as if you had the Dark Ritual or something.

I think Gaider said back then that they found it hard to work around. Thankfully the import works correctly for DA2.

Most overused:

Leliana (my canon LI)

Sten (canon best friend)

Underused

Zevran in my first playthrough. Then I saw what a beast Sigrun was in Awakening. Pretty much been a staple ever since.

Wynne. Either my blood mage throws the occasional heal, or I give spirit healer to Morrigan.

I wouldn't bother for the most part, but I do it for DA2's sake. It's the only way I get Nathaniel's quest and a few other little things.

That depends on which class I'm playing, but Zevran is always in my party and he is the highest party damage contributor in my party. The only time he was second highest was when I played as a DW warrior and just charged in. When I play a mage, I'm careful not to use AoE that could harm my own party, and probably that's why he is the highest damage dealer even I become a blood mage. I don't like to compromise his fighting ability so he gets his lockpick skills with purchased tombs only, but then I can live with not being able to open chests. It's no big deal and I can have as much money as I need by making and selling potent lyrium potions.

When I play as a warrior, Alistair often stays in the camp. When I play as a spirit healer, I have no use of Wynne until she gets blood magic and blood wound. When I play as an archer rogue, Leliana stays behind all the time.

In general, I take Leliana once she gets both scattershot and captivating song. I don't find an archer particularly useful before then and Zevran can play a decent archer, if needed, even without any archery skill. He can usually equip best vows well before Leliana.

For me, most used is Alistair and Wynne.

Least, Zevran and Chauncy (Chauncy is my dog).

I use Alistair a lot because I typically build him up to be a very good aggro holding tank, and Wynne because healing.

I almost never have Zevran because I'm usually a dual dagger rogue/utility rogue (picking locks) who builds Leliana into a decent archer, so Zev really just wastes a slot. And though I wish I could leave Chauncy in my party permanently, it's just not practical.

Shale makes it in the party less than Alistair and Wynne but more often than Zev and Chauncy.

And Sten... The ONLY reason I ever save him from Lothering is for story purposes. After that, he stays in camp permanently as he is completely useless (without using a respec mod of course... he's pretty decent respec'd into sword and shield with high con and dex, but really that just makes him an Alistair clone).

Wynne and Morrigan for me. (most used)

If rolling rogue or warrior, i usually go for duo wield. For 4th slot, i pick either alistair (can be built in a very decent dual wielder) or zevran. Get haste with wynne and morrigan and steamroll the entire game in nightmare.

If rolling mage, 3 mages make any crowd of mobs or dragon turn into a team of mouses.

Underused is sten and dog. Dog isnt just as good as any other warrior. Sten cannot have acess to 2nd spec, this is bad :c

I take Sten any time I need to fight a dragon once I have the dragon-killing sword. Oghren just looks ridiculous with it.

I used to do that with Sten, until I got tired of him dying whenever a dragon would fart in his general direction.

The guy is useless.

What is it with the two-handed warriors?  Both Sten and Oghren always seem to be the first to die in any difficult fight unless you nurse them along every second!  (Needless to say, when my warden is a warrior, it's always sword and shield.)  Even in Inquisition (I actually played that before I discovered DAO), the two-handed warrior Iron Bull is the same way, always the first to die. :(

Just curious, what ending do most people here prefer?  Dark Ritual or US?  How dramatic is the end in US?  What if your love interest (most likely Leli) is in the party for the final battle?

My current intention is to save before Landsmeet and have my current warden go through all three possible endings:  Dark Ritual, US, and Loghain makes US.  I wonder if I'd be able to save all three outcomes with same warden?
