Buying the game...what mods do you suggest?

So, I downloaded the demo and played for about 30 minutes, and LOVED it. I followed the release and decided to wait since I read that there were so many issues. I found the K/M controls are not that difficult to follow, but the TAC camera seems restricted.

Are there any mods that you PC users would recommend? Is there one that can allow the TAC camera to zoom out?

Thanks

There isn't much mods , well there's a couple but it's not like Skyrim.

I would advise against mods to be honest , it's a tiny bit complicated to use mods for this game , and patch and mods aren't on friendly terms..(Although we're probably almost done as far as patching goes , we may get a big last patch with a last DLC )

Most popular mods are cosmetic , new haircut and change to the Inquisitor formal wear , the beloved "beige pyjama."

About the tac cam , I didn't find it very easy to use so I gave up on it but if I remember correctly there's some option to zoom out or zoom in more somewhere on the main menu.

You can also use a controller on pc , if you have one.

Doing some reading online....is the Cheat Engine camera zoom a good idea or not?

I don't know.

I used the Cheat Engine to trigger party banter , I didn't have any problem.

Bioware patched in an extended zoom option in the game.

This consequently broke the CE zoom. Don't use it, it doesn't work.

Yeah there's a tac cam zoom out option in the controls section of the options menu now. It lets you zoom out pretty far.

Awesome, thanks so much

Loved the demo....looking forward to the full game.

I usually enjoy playing a game "as is", but can someone recommend anything (cheat engine or a trainer) that might help someone along if they get stuck?

What about crafting? I've enjoyed crafting in MMO's and wouldn't mind doing so in DAI.

Thanks again

Crafting is a bit different than any MMO, it's about as simple as it can get. However, your best gear is going to come from crafting with the highest tier rare materials.

I would also recommend playing the game at least 15-20 hours in before you start looking to mod stuff other than cosmetic. There aren't really many game changing mods due to the difficulty we have with modding, the player made tools and the lack of support from Bioware for modding. Every time they patch the game, mods all get broke and need to be redone AFTER the tools get fixed.

Mods aren't supported, so big chances you will have to disable them with each new patches. I suggest you wait until this game is done with all the dlcs and etc before modding it. Otherwise, if you're a PC player, go for the tac cam mods and don't cram the files too much.

I liked the Cheat Engine TAC cam mod....it's amazing how far you can zoom out. I wonder how far you can zoom out with the bioware fix?

If that's your reference for the CE version of the tac cam then I'm sorry to say the vanilla version doesn't allow you to zoom out that far, I'd say two thirds of the modded range max.

They facilitated navigation, however; for example switchingthe controlled character doesn't make you jump back to said character etc.

As others mentioned, wait for end of support (shouldn't take long, now) and then mod to your heart's content. And above all, have fun with DAI. I know I do. :P

Besides pajama retextures, the only mod I could wholeheartedly recommend is the one that removes Blackwall's beard. That man has got the sexyface under all that scruff.

If you waited all this time why not wait for a "komplete edition"?
Seriously.
Unless you play like less than 10 hours a week, in this case buy now because you will take like forever to finish exploring the game.

I recommend going to DAI Modder Central on tumblr and browsing their masterposts and compendiums.

Aside from cosmetic things, like most of the compendiums on DAI modder, are things like SweetFX presets, ENBs, and reshaders available on nexus, if you find you want changes to the lighting/color vibrancy of the game.

There's also a mod to change the default text font in the game to gothic, resembling DA:O in that sense. I highly recommend it. Its a seemingly small thing, but it really changed the feel of the game for me, personally.

(There's also a font mod that changes it all to a less fancy font if you need to increase ease of reading.)

And there is the conversational camera zoom mod. Compared to previous DA titles, Inquisition has fewer conversation cutscenes. Instead you talk to landscape npcs and the camera just zooms over your shoulder, while still staying relatively far away from the NPC you are talking to. The camera mod I mentioned zooms the camera in closer over your shoulder in landscape npc conversations so it gives a feel closer to what it was like to talk to *every* npc in the previous two games. I personally highly recommend it, even on a first playthrough.

Finally, there is a mod that allows you to run around the game world in first person. The game wasn't made with first person view in mind, but the modder has done an admirable job implementing it, imo. I haven't actually gotten around to using this, yet, but it looks cool.

Just be prepared for your mods to possibly break next time there is a game update. I'm personally waiting till the DLC/update cycle is complete before I do a fully modded playthrough.
