Should I forget the trilogy to enjoy Andromeda?

Furthermore, this new game is supposed to fix the errors of the past.
To make my point since the past games are no more, junked, useless utter waste of time why bother with it? Mikyway is overated and already saved or whatever who cares really?
So my question is... Should I forget everything to have the best gaming experience for Andromeda to get most of my purchase? There are no save imports, it is not confirmed to be a prequel nor a sequel... so this game is just basically for fun and pure gaming? Maybe I can stop being so serious for once when it takes that direction.

Well it is preety much a new game with very little connections with the past which is supposed to reveive the BioWare and MassEffect name while pushing the space genre and exploration mechanincs forward in the gaming industry.
Furthermore, this new game is supposed to fix the errors of the past.

I once went to Disneyland.
Should I forget about that trip to enjoy Andromeda?

You don't think you're sort of totally missing the points of a game here do you?
The original trilogy is fun (though I am one of those people who doesn't like the endings) so, you know, play it for fun irrespective as to what MEA may or may not be.

If it means a stop to all the "why is this game even Mass Effect?" then yes, I suggest anyone forget the old trilogy. Whatever makes you happy living with reality.
Good luck though; it's gonna take some serious trauma to remove that much memory from your brain.

Its a soft reboot of the setting, that however doesn't make the original trilogy not worth playing. Its still an amazing scifi series even if its a bit weak on the rpg elements occasionally.

I'm not. If I was I wouldn't be posting this but would rather post a broken grammar thread like that one dude a day ago complaining about the direction of the franchise. He does have a point though... if non of the past even matters or gets carried in the next game then I too must restart my mind to get the best experience as possible and not connect ME 1 - 3 with Andromeda at all. Which I do in Final Fantasy, Medal of Honor and silent hill or any games not connected at all

I don't see any need to forget the Milky Way. My Shep lived a long life with Miranda. The galaxy rebuilt.
Meanwhile parallel to that in a galaxy far far away, the andromeda ark has arrived and their story will begin

There are no save imports
Where was that confirmed? They mentioned there is no need for save imports, but never that there won't be. By save import, I'm referring to something like a Mass Effect version of Dragon Age Keep.

Why you need or want to forget ME1-3 to enjoy ME:A?
Personally I think that remembering ME1-3 will make ME:A better experience. Seeing familiar alien species and other things that are familiar from earlier games will surely bring some nostalgia and ME feeling to the game. I guess if your memories of ME1-3 are mostly negative it would be best to get fresh start with ME:A, but if not I don't see point then in having to forgot previous games in order to enjoy new one.

If they are bad memories that hurt and have no learning value. Garbage them if you can. Life =)

If I'm going to be able to enjoy Andromeda I'd have to bury any shred of the previous ME trilogy in the deepest, darkest, recess of my mind.
But that's just me. According to some high and mighty fans on this board, that's me being butthurt apparently. ![]()

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.
The ending for ME3 was bad and unless you wrap up the
ending why should I commit to a new game.

Why would you forget anything in life?
The good, the bad, they all make you- well, you.

Andromeda is no different: It is the product of what came before it.

Frankly, that is the best approach.
Andromeda is all about a new story and characters with some minor nods to Shep's universe such as the Mako, combat, companions, familiar races and the N7 patch. But, then, that's what makes this a Mass Effect game.
So, I'd say concentrate on the new. It will be a stand alone game and Bio is smart to ensure it can be played as such.
