Furthermore, this new game is supposed to fix the errors of the past.

Pardon my lack of any sense of etiquette here.

But who in the bloody hell told you that?  Who told that there were errors?

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.
The ending for ME3 was bad and unless you wrap up the
ending why should I commit to a new game.

You absolutely shouldn't play the new game.

Why get fooled twice? Shame, shame on you.

You should stay as far away from the new mass effect games as possible.

In fact, you should probably stop posting on the mass effect boards.

Bioware might take that as implicit support of the new game, and we don't want that, do we?

I think you should.  I don't think the general public should.

Frankly, that is the best approach.

Andromeda is all about a new story and characters with some minor nods to Shep's universe such as the Mako, combat, companions, familiar races and the N7 patch. But, then, that's what makes this a Mass Effect game.

So, I'd say concentrate on the new. It will be a stand alone game and Bio is smart to ensure it can be played as such.

Probably right. A couple of players also told me to have 0% interest or expectation for Andromeda to avoid dissapointments until a proper game review is out

ME1-3 is an amazing trilogy. Don't let some of these butt hurt fans stop you from playing one of the best games.

Meaning ME1 and ME2.

Well it is preety much a new game with very little connections with the past which is supposed to reveive the BioWare and MassEffect name while pushing the space genre and exploration mechanincs forward in the gaming industry.

Furthermore, this new game is supposed to fix the errors of the past.

To make my point since the past games are no more, junked, useless utter waste of time why bother with it? Mikyway is overated and already saved or whatever who cares really?

So my question is... Should I forget everything to have the best gaming experience for Andromeda to get most of my purchase? There are no save imports, it is not confirmed to be a prequel nor a sequel... so this game is just basically for fun and pure gaming? Maybe I can stop being so serious for once when it takes that direction.

Not trying to be a ******, but please get help.  You clearly need it.

Forget the trilogy.  Forget Andromeda.  Forget both.  Forget neither.  It doesn't matter because it's just a video game.

Hey you know what you are right. Let's treat it just like another video game like it should. To hell with the plot. If it's possible to MOD Andromeda I would

Why are you asking us about this, anyway? It's a shame you're still working through your trilogy issues, but I don't see how we can help.

Nah never forget it was a nice ride. Take ME Trilogy like a first love. It came suddendly and surprisingly, you fell in love, gave everything to it but ended up broken-hearted because of high expectations. Should you forget it? Nah because there were many wonderful and exciting moments worth keeping but hey there is a new gal out there she is called Andromeda and will be soon ready to meet you and blow your mind away again with new adventures. Keep the good of the past relation but don't let the bad of it ruins your new experiences.

I'd say do a selective removal and just get rid of what you hated but keep what you liked.

Also re-reading it...LOL at the metaphor

ME:A is a reboot of the series. Bioware may be reluctant to actually say that in so many words, but it is. Its connection to the series as a whole is tangential at best.

Take away the Mass Effect in the name and remove the N7 from the armor of whoever that character we saw was and you could be left with a game with little to no connection to the Mass Effect series. They only put it out as a Mass Effect game for the name and franchise recognition.

It takes place in space, that much it does have in common, but I suspect there will be little else.

So to answer your question, yes, you should forget everything you know about Mass Effect, because Bioware has. It will make it easier to enjoy 'Mass Effect in Name Only: Andromeda.'

No you should not ignore the original trilogy. The ending sucked arse through a straw, but the potentiallly hundred hours you'll spend before it are largely marvelous.

Also - Mass Effect Andromeda is not a reboot.  If anything it's a Spin-off.

This argument to me is so bizarre.

It sounds like when my 6 year old is throwing a tantrum.

It's the same universe.

It's the same science fiction underlying it.

It's the same (or close to the same) technology.

It's the same space magic.

It's many of the same races.

I live in a suburb of Las Vegas called Henderson. If I move to another part of Henderson, I don't claim its not Henderson just because the neighbors are different and they use a different grocery store.

Agree to disagree.

But about your analogy, the two things are not even remotely comparable, so the analogy makes no point.

I'd like to have this crystal ball of yours. Since surely one cannot affirm such things without having seen more than a teaser trailer of the game, no?

I mean, if we go by the teaser for ME3, the entire game is about sniping Husks while having a british accent.

If you're going to say that things aren't remotely comparable, you should at least give a hint as to why they aren't comparable.

I'd like to agree to disagree, but so far it looks like you're just plain wrong. If that trailer hadn't been labelled Mass Effect, my first reaction would have been that they were ripping off Mass Effect.

Aren't you grown up enough to have an opinion on the matter ? or are you so lazy that you have to be fed what to think with a silver syringe ?

Legitimate question.

Andromeda is going to be fully enjoyable game without knowing the Trilogy, im sure about that.

However Andromeda got a chance to live up to it's predecessors even surpass them but the Trilogy will going to be the all-time classics no matter how many Mass Effect games will be released in the future decades.

No crystal ball, just observations based on context and what's known about the game so far, and that includes the leaked survey, which is all but confirmed at this point.

And if you really need me to explain why those two things aren't comparable, then forget about it. It's not worth the time.

And if I had seen the trailer, taking away the Mass Effect name on it, the Bioware/EA label, and the N7 logo on the armor, I wouldn't have guessed it was ME. It's obviously in space, but so are many other games, most of which borrow liberally from each other. To me, ME:A's connection to the series as we know it is threadbare at best, and I believe it's because EA mandated that Bioware continue the ME series because of the franchise name recognition and built-in fanbase, but ultimately the game is going to bear only the bare minimum of resemblance to what we know to be Mass Effect that is necessary for it to carry the name on the shelves of stores.

Cynical, I know, but this is EA and Bioware we're talking about here. They've earned being viewed in that light.

If you disagree, that's fine. It doesn't make one bit of difference to me. But don't be surprised if you're disappointed when the game comes out. At least regarding the campaign and story.

The Multiplayer will hopefully still be fun.

Enjoy yourself. Seriously. Judge ME:A on its own terms. Hopefully, it will be a great game on its own terms. And when you feel like it, go back and replay some of the previous installments.

Try to have fun with it. Think of it like we are starting to pack up our bags to go on an adventure:

I would not say forget the original trilogy as much as...make room for something more/different to be added.

Who knows what will happen?

My previous experience with the trilogy isn't going to prevent me from enjoying ME:A

It is, however, going to cause me to wait and see reviews from media sources I trust before purchasing.  Though part of that is also due to the fact that this will be the first major title conceived and produced entirely after Muzyka and Zeschuk left.  There's a part of me that is skeptical of any product with this much EA influence.

It's still an ME game. It's going to have the same technology, the same alien races, the same lore, the same gameplay... why would you need to forget the original trilogy? ME:A is (chronologically speaking) a sequel. Chances are you're not going to need intimate knowledge of the original trilogy to enjoy Andromeda, but having knowledge of the trilogy's story and the MEU as a whole will benefit you.

It's still a Mass Effect game. If you guys really need something that ties this game to the original games, then I'm sure there'll be plenty of codex entries and dialogue referencing the original trilogy. If there's not, then... that'd kinda suck. But deal with it.
