It's still an ME game. It's going to have the same technology, the same alien races, the same lore, the same gameplay... why would you need to forget the original trilogy? ME:A is (chronologically speaking) a sequel. Chances are you're not going to need intimate knowledge of the original trilogy to enjoy Andromeda, but having knowledge of the trilogy's story and the MEU as a whole will benefit you.

It's still a Mass Effect game. If you guys really need something that ties this game to the original games, then I'm sure there'll be plenty of codex entries and dialogue referencing the original trilogy. If there's not, then... that'd kinda suck. But deal with it.

It is a spin off not a sequel.... that impacts me in some wat

I said "chronologically speaking". How does that impact you? Just treat it as a sequel set in a different place with new characters - like the new Star Wars movie.

We'd known for years that Shepard's story is finished.

It's going to be Mass Effect, with Mass Effect aliens and Mass Effect tech and Mass Effect aesthetics, plus new stuff, new aliens, new characters, which we'd want even in a game set in the MW and starring Shepard.

It's a sequel. Do we really want game after game with the same characters forever?

I don't think so, the only bad thing about METrilogy is the ME3 endings. Just don't finish ME3 and you will be fine lol. I honestly and truly think ME3 was great up and until its final moments with the Catalyst. I am one to believe that the choices we made throughout the trilogy should've determine how well we did to beat the Reapers

Not the best example, considering the new Star Wars movies will have the main characters from the original trilogy in it.

I'm pretty sure the only way ME:A is going to work is if everyone ignores the trilogy. I'm fine with that. I'm pretty sure the game will end up being good or bad on its own merits, however tight or loose the connections to ME 1-3 end up being.
