Maybe Mac's hat had a disagreement with him.
Is Chris Schlerf still the lead writer?

What exactly was wrong with Halo 4's writing? Because you're gonna have to convince me right now, that that game's writing was so unbelievably awful, to make me want Mac Walters again.

No, he just recently joined Bioware as a writer. Prior to that he had written Halo 4.
The ending of Mass Effect 3 was written by Casey Hudson and Mac Walters. Casey Hudson now works for Microsoft and Mac Walters it the Creative Director for Andromeda.

Hm....
ME3's rainbow ending was a mess.
Let's hope MW totally avoids apocalyptic endings for ME:A

People just wanted to bash Halo 4 because it wasn't made by Bungie. The story is entirely competent. Meanwhile, Bungie squeezed out a turd of a game, taking corporatism to a whole new level in the games industry.

My spidey senses tell me that the release window will be pushed out to fall 2017.

Why do people keep saying this? Do you think that if they got rid of Schlerf they have to start over from scratch? Like everything he wrote has cooties?

Destiny has a host of problems, no denying that.
But Halo 4 is every bit as bad. A story that needed 3 books, two shorts, a half dozen comics, and a crystal ball to understand, paper thin characters, an incredibly poorly thought out end game structure, and so on.
It was just a disaster

I didn't need all of that outside stuff to understand the story of Halo 4, but even if I did I would take that over 20% of a mediocre game. Destiny is a joke.

Hey, see it on the bright side. Maybe SuperMac can become lead writer now
Maybe Schlerf got fired or something? His latest tweets was something about working from home. Maybe he turned out to be a slacker?
Mac is already the new creative director, lead writer would be a demotion for him at this point.

Halo 4 has all of the supplementary material because it's setting up a new storyline separate from the rest of Halo. I still haven't read any of the Forerunner or the Kilo-Five novels and I still perfectly understand the plot to Halo 4. Chief and Cortana end up on Requiem alongside the UNSC Infinity, Chief accidentally awakens the Didact who goes on to continue his war against humanity, and Chief has to stop him. It's not exactly rocket science.
Also, "paper thin characters" and "poorly thought out end game structure" don't mean anything when you have nothing to qualify them with.

Just some ME fanboys hating the fact that their franchise is going down the craper.
So all in all:

Agreed. Also much as I loved the Halo trilogy, Combat Evolved didn't really have much of a story to speak of.

Because history has shown that when a studio loses their lead writer well in advance of a game releasing that the release window gets pushed. Look at Uncharted 4. Look at Destiny. Those are just the examples that come to the top of my head. And BOTH of those games started over from scratch. Naughty Dog trashed 8 months of work on Uncharted 4 after Amy Henning left.
So that's why I said it.
