So, I write and play who I want, I listen to whatever I like, wear whatever I like, and if it happens to not be something that is supposedly "for black people" oh friggin well. I have never once denied that racism is real. I live in South Carolina... I was here when they kept the confederate flag waving after 9 black people were killed in one of our local churches, not fifteen minutes from where I live. You are the one in denial of your own racism, black racism, another tool to have black people keep themselves down, like you're doing here.

Vivienne is a snobby elitest? Black characters are not allowed to have flaws! That's offensive! On the other hand, black characters not having flaws is a case of reverse racism. So maybe there shouldn't be any black characters ... except that in itself is offensive.

The moral of the story is that someone will be offended no matter what you do. In fact, I'm probably offending someone right now.

This is why I wanted to talk about the kitten

It especially sucks for me because despite that I am mostly black (dad is mixed too, mother black), I am lighter in appearance, so if I don't act black, people claim I want to be white, and if I do, they claim I hate my white side or are afraid to admit I'm partially white, trying too hard to be black, etc. There are blacks with complexions almost as light as mine, and not mixed.

 

So, I say **** what others think, I am me. And at the end of the day, I know I am black, as that's what the majority of my features show, that's what family I was raised in, that's what my parents are. This chick may need to make an avatar to show it, I don't.

It's funny, because you're not the first person that's happened to in this thread actually. Phantom assumed Lynroy was a guy earlier because of a male avatar. 

 

Anyway, I'm not 100 percent certain, so grain of salt.

Admirable. It is indeed hard to displace that feeling, it's pretty much ingrained. I still have a problem with it sometimes. Most people I've interacted with are not racist here in the South, but there's enough ugly here that you forget not everyone is like that.

 

Still, it's no excuse for being rude to people that do not deserve it.
