with my engineers I am facing this question all the time.

despite in different weapon categories, they are comparable in many aspects, I think.

since I've learned of the strange accuracy behavior of the Talon, I really love this gun
(did not scope in much before and also did not use hard cover)

what do you think?

I go with Wraith in main hand and Talon in off hand.

 

If I have to take just one, it will be the Wraith unless it is a character with an accuracy bonus.

I am always wondering whether to take the magnifier or the armor piercing mod.

A possible way to choose between the two is to consider that the Wraith shines more on engineers with anti-shields abilities, because a Wraith shot on an unshielded mook is a guaranteed kill. The Talon, with its shields / barriers bonus, is a possible better complement for engineers specialized in armor destruction (QFE, Hunter).

There's also the question of the power magnifier, yes. This mod may be worth it on the Talon merc (although probably overkill in many situations) and engineers with Arc Grenades. But nothing really game breaking.

Sums it up perfectly. I really like the Talon.....but the Wraith is that girl I want to be with at the end of the day. I remember back in the good ol days the Wraith was an afterthought for most players. Bioware did a good job in buffing it to be a fantastic gun.

None of the above applies? Wraith.

 

Are you playing against a faction with a lot of shields/barriers? Either is fine.

I'd argue that the Talon is better all-around but the Wraith is still a damn fine gun.

For me, whether to talon or raider (sorry wraith - u are lame), depends mostly upon whether or not the particular kit needs ammo priming to be effective.  If ammo priming is desired, then I raider w/ incen/disrupt/warp ammo, SC and HVB, else I talon with AP ammo, power amp/ext mag, and heavy barrel.

Wraith because it's at X for me at my talon is at 3

Wraith was my first X UR so it has a special place in my heart. But I can't wait to get Talon at higher levels to justify a place in my lineup
