I never said anything about NOT having one. I specifically meant keeping it holstered. If it doesn't work, I wasn't patient enough. Therefore I accept that death and tweak my strategy upon the replay. No big deal. Not like any of this is real life. LolAnd if that doesn't work, do you just accept death or do you carry a effing gun to save your ass.
I have no problem with people roleplaying a character that makes poor life choices but don't act like it would be an optimal choice. And it shouldn't be. You should have to use ALL of your resources to be optimal. I never use my companions, but I recognize its a bad choice. You aren't forced to use a gun, but it would be incredibly silly not to carry one just in case.
Things you'd like to see, but aren't vital for your enjoyment.

No more shower in full parade suit please - if you can not make it proper way, please do not make it at all;
I have some wishes considering multiplayer:
- Omnigel converter from ME1 for multiplayer - I would happily convert all the crap equipment (explosive, disruptor, cryo ammo and loads of gear) into something useful, even at some loss of quantity (e.g. 1 set of AP4 for 4 sets of explosive). Alternatively, stop making crap ammo.
- Ability to change one power to another power from the same class (biotic to biotic, or tech to tech. Make it super ultra rare, but it would be fun. I would start from Justicar, and replace Pull with something, which can prime all targets (in a same manner as singularity). This definitely can be done with some thought.
- It would be cool if it were possible to chose appropriate sound filter, since now Asari talking in a low male voice or Krogan talking in a female voice is a bit immersion-breaking;
- Appearance customization - it would bee cool if I could wear all these ribbons and insignia.
- Blood textures - it seams somehow natural, that CQC character may have some blood splashes on the uniform during the combat. Also, brains and blood on the walls and floor for the duration of the match seems appropriate decorations.
- Asari engineer and Asari soldier (maybe instead of Justicar?). (And I do not care about other races actually, so add to your wish list all the salarians and drell)
- More thought put into weapon system. For example, Wraith + Commando or Talon + Asari Vanguard are perfect combinations. It is simply unnatural, that Asari did not develop something similar of their own, and have to use alien design.

So let me see if I have this straight. Your commander shepard wanted to go into combat situations with a gun on his hip not in his hand, sneak around and when caught throw a biotic power and if that doesn't do the job stare blankly at the enemy maybe move around a bit for 3ish seconds and hope your shields last. I support it as a roleplaying choice. But might I suggest having gun in hand, use your biotic power then shoot like a mad man and as soon as your cooldown is up, use another biotic power.. In all honesty I'm mainly just giving you crap, its fairly easy on insanity to get through the game without firing a shot if you move around and use cover well. Not sure why the image of having a gun in your hand when in a gun fight doesn't suit you, but hey more power to you.
I roleplay decisions I know would be bad all the time. Most the cyber on my shadowrun character was due to intentionally poor choices in game.
My main issue is with people who want to go sans gun and still want it to be as optimal as going with gun. It would be like a soldier saying he should be as good as any other soldier even though he doesn't use any powers even adrenaline rush. Or me saying I should be just as effective when I leave my party members at home.

My main issue is that not really a fan of using guns, even in video games. If I have the option to get by without using them, I will. I accept that sometimes you're forced to and I do so begrudgingly. But I'd like to be able to play the entirety of ME:A without doing so, if I choose.
A shooter seems a odd place to go for entertainment then. ![]()
I can respect that, other than the visual though you can fairly easily get by in ME2-3 without ever firing a shot. I've done it and i'm not great at games. ME1 well, on lower difficulties where warp might kill people I guess you could, but generally you needed your gun to finish off the people you crowd controlled. I'm actually for the return of the holster button, don't care really about combat but I think visually drawing or holstering your guns in certain situations seems fitting and if the button is there you minds well make it work in combat as well. I'd like it to have an effect in dialogue or negotiations. Do you insult your adversaries or show them the proper respect and approach with your gun ports open? Or more seriously, in elder scroll games at least some of them you got a negotiation hit if you tried to talk to people in town while your weapon was drawn. I'd like something like that to come into the game, how you approach people should matter.

But I agree... Approach should definitely matter. Even if it's threatening an adversary that one of your companions has been looking to beat someone to a pulp all week. *shrugs*
