I played it, loved it, then started it again. Several times in fact.
Anyone ever play Jade Empire?

I played it, of course. Cleese's role in the game was the high point for me.

I think it's a game that's a bit more suited on the X-box, honestly, but for compatability reasons, I'd go with the PC. Also, I'd buy it from the BioStore instead of Steam, but seeing as they don't sell any other games from there, it might be a good idea to go with Steam for persistancy.iNZoW wrote...
I have it on the original xbox but i never played it, planing on it though. Question is, should i play it using the xbox 360 or buy the Special edition from steam?

Ulvertson and Urgnu that sounds like something I would do while waiting for DA:O to come out.

Owned it, played it. I wouldn't call it "original" but it was certainly very innovative in taking and adapting many elements to form a more or less cohesive adventure. Though the short game and abruptness of the ending left me questioning many things, like story and character depth. Nevertheless I'd like to see a sequel for JE, just to see what Bioware can do.

I can't really say I loved Jade Empire. I liked the story and all but ultimately it felt like dungeon crawl - which some people enjoy more combat in their RPG's but I kind of like role playing in my games. Combat heavy is not my personal preference and Jade Empire was relatively combat heavy like Icewind Dale was. I still played it twice to the end (JE and ID) but it isn't high up in my rankings.

I loved Jade Empire. The entire setting was lush and beautiful. I particularly loved the Water Dragon; her theme music was spine-tingling.
I have it for both the XBox and the PC.

It is the best Bioware game thus far.

It's the best Bioware game to play on a console because of the contols working well with the action, and the setting, story and characters were great. It's very underrated to say it's the best game for Xbox.

Playing through it now on the PC, actually (first time). So far, I'm liking it quite a lot. It may take a back seat while I check out Risen though, and once Dragon Age is unleashed... well, let's just say I'll be well occupied from that point into the near and medium future.

I completed it about ~6 times.
I really love it, it's just "different", but still it's a Bioware RPG. Setting and Combat are refreshing. Dialogues are funny.

I was a little disappointed by it, as I have hoped for more Beat'n'Up combat than 3 times 'A', but I still loved it.
The story is still one of the best of all games ever, and I just love the character Kang the Mad, as you can tell from my nickname. I wouldn't mind if BW would make a second part ... as long as it contains Lao Kang the Mad

Pretty much what you'd expect from Bioware - excellent story and quite memorable and interesting characters. The fighting was good but not great. Visually very good in parts. It has the voice of John Cleese in it, which has got to be a bonus. Definitely worth at least one playthrough if not more.

I meant original when compared to other CRPGs, not necessarily in general. Clearly it adopted and played with a lot of Chinese lore, but in terms of what other developers have done with the fantasy genre, the setting in JE was definitely original.Amberyl Ravenclaw wrote...

Err.... I did play it on the xbox and PC and completed it as well. But the best? I'm guessing you missed the Baldur's gate 2 train.caradoc2000 wrote...

Definitely not as good as BG2 imo but I still recommend the game to anyone who enjoys a good story

It's my favourite story of all BioWare games thus far.
BG2 was long and fun, but it was also rather bulky -- the whole Underdark plot, for instance, (while fun to visit) was unnecessary from a story perspective...

I have to say, I loved the controles (at least for the console version). The whole game was really nice. I hope they will make a second part.Aurkia wrote...

I have made it a point to play every Bioware game... except that sonic one... it just doesn't seem natural to me.

Jade Empire sadly was very underated. It was better then any of the other RPGs that gen (KOTOR was the best) the story, the combat system and the characters were very well done. I hope Bioware makes a JE2.

I played it and greatly enjoyed it. It was an interesting game, and an interesting twist on the traditional rpg (mainly due to the controls).
