No, I didn't miss either one of the BG games. The only memorable thing in BG was Viconia.emyln wrote...
Err.... I did play it on the xbox and PC and completed it as well. But the best? I'm guessing you missed the Baldur's gate 2 train.caradoc2000 wrote...
It is the best Bioware game thus far.

It did feel like a lot was cut from the NPC interacts.
Also, Sir Roderick von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Bastard, voice by John Cleese. How can you not love that?

Ya I know how you feel, but the size gives it good replay value.DalishRanger wrote...
I bought Jade Empire as soon as it was available for the PC. I've gone through it... About 5 or so times now? It's a fantastic game, but unfortunately, very short.

Yeah. Aside from the Baldur's Gate series it's my most played Bioware game. I can't count the number of times I've finished it, but it's surely somewhere past twenty. At the time it was released I was a obsessed with it. I was extremely prolific on the forums (under a now discarded identity), and discussed every aspect of it for months. I bought the soundtrack, the Wu mousepad, and later on, the PC version. I skipped that lithograph though. Too expensive for me at the time.
Jade Empire wasn't BioWare's best showing. Character interaction and plot were a step down from KotOR and the combat system was fun but simplistic for anyone experienced with action games. Still, there were some great moments. Some hilarious, others touching, and more than a few crowning moments of awesome... especially if you went Closed Fist.
The twist was predictable, but I still enjoyed JE's plot. I was also glad to see a return to Throne of Bhaal's epilogue approach for character endings. This is quickly becoming a rambling mess so I'll end here by saying it's a personal favorite, even though all logic dictates it shouldn't be.

It was possible to mix that up a bit by switching styles after a hit or two to form a long chain combo. JE combat was drearily simplistic even then, but it spiced up combat a bit. I do hope any sequel improves that drastically though. At least give us three buttons to alternate. >.<Greg the Mad wrote...
I was a little disappointed by it, as I have hoped for more Beat'n'Up combat than 3 times 'A', but I still loved it.

You don't have to sell me on that.DalishRanger wrote...
The combat was pretty simplistic, but I was fond of it nonetheless. There were predictable aspects of JE, and as others have said, it wasn't as strong as Bioware's other titles in terms of interaction and story, but... Dunno, I just really, really, really enjoy it each time I play. It's got a lot of charm and soul, despite its faults. I also loved how it was a fantasy setting with a Chinese/far East Asian flare, rather than a European-influenced one, as most settings are.

Jade Empire had a lot of style and was great fun despite its shortcomings. Like I wrote in my post on the second page, I was very into it at the time. It'll be awhile before I play it again, but inevitably I will.
Theres something about Jade Empire that was very fun. In all its simplicity it was very addictive.

EXACTLY! but it was also clever..I think thats what lead to my addiction to it. The romance ptions were a semi turn off though because they happen so easily and so quickly it was too fake.

While the JE romances weren't the most in-depth ones Bioware's done, I liked them more than both NWNs (yeah, I know Obsidian did NWN2) and I actually enjoyed the Dawn Star romance. I'm a bit of a sucker for "best friends become lovers" trope at times, though.

It may not be Bioware's best game, but it's a very personal game for me. It made me discover Bioware's talent for storytelling all over again, and it took me by surprise. I don't know if they'll make a sequel, but if they do I'll be very happy.
