Well, trying to check all the things before they potentially go wrong, I'm now a bit stuck at the part of account linking.
Basically, I have a single e-mail used for both this and my EA account, also same password, if that matters. I can log in with the Character Creator, that links to my profile perfectly.
Now I am quite stumped on how can I check whether this account is really tied to my EA account or not. I don't want to start redeeming my codes and registering my game if there is a significant risk in losing either of those..
So yeh - is there any way to check this?
How can I check whether this account is linked to my EA account?

The account you use to sign into social.bioware.com is intimately tied to your Nucleus account from profile.ea.com.
Sign into the profile site, and at the very bottom you'll see a "welcome xxxx@xxx.com" link. Click that and it will show you all your persona info for all games and consoles.

DanKATL is correct. Alternatively, if you can upload characters to your profile, it's working.

Both my EA account and this account have the exact same email address, but I'm still unconvinced whether they are linked because there is nothing that really verifies that.
I have Mass Effect 1 but there is no sign of it on my EA account. Also, there is not a BioWare persona on the EA website, does that only appear when you register Mass Effect 2?
Now what I am about to mention may be the answer to my question (and potentially make me look like an idiot), but when I signed up for this Bioware account I used the option to sign in with my EA account.
Before anyone starts yelling "MORON", I am only asking because there is nothing that actually says "these two accounts are linked". I just want to make sure everything is in perfect order before I start playing ME2.

Ok I was messing around with some of the options and found something that might help anyone with the same concern.
If you go to the "Profile" tab, then click on the "Your registered game promotions" option, it will take you to a page that has some information that might help; namely your PSN and XBL gamertags. That should be hint enough that your BioWare account is linked to you EA account.
But if someone wants to further soothe my paranoia, then by all means please do.

If there is an existing EA account with the same email address it is impossible to create an account here with the same email address without linking it to the existing EA account. I found that out because I had completely forgotten I had created an EA account for some other game, and it took me a while to get it all sorted out so I could keep my username from the old Bioware forums and use my regular email address.

Ok thank you Kepha. I feel better now that all my ME1 crap and ME2 codes will safely find their way to further my enjoyment.

Just make sure the email address is showing up correctly on the Redeem Code/Registered Game Promotion pages too. I have seen people who think they've registered with one email but mistyped it and ended up with a separate account.
