Does DA:I have the worst DLC of any Bioware game?

I think some people would reference Mass Effect 1 in that regard, but I personally really enjoyed Bring Down the Sky. It's true ME1 didn't really have anything spectacular, but at the same time this was back in 2008 when Bioware was first experimenting with DLC, and they were working on Mass Effect 2 on a tight budget. It was just a fun, reasonably priced side mission. So I can excuse ME1 in that regard. But fast forward to 2014 with DA:I, and I just find Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent to be inexcusably mediocre, and overpriced to boot. Especially when Bioware has a history of releasing DLC that has ranged from Good to Excellent.

Ever since I beat DA:I I've been patiently waiting for a high quality DLC that will continue the story and maybe answer some of the questions that were raised with the ending. It's been 9 months now, and we haven't gotten anything close to that. And that really confuses me because DA:I has a good foundation to really build some great DLC off of, and I feel that they've been wasting that. Maybe EA hasn't given them the budget or manpower to churn out some great DLC. I'm not a fly on the wall, but I do know that DA:I perhaps has the worst DLC I've seen from a Bioware game yet. And that's really a shame, especially when we're coming off of Mass Effect 3, which imo had the best DLC of any Bioware game. Hell even the lesser popular Omega DLC was way better than JoH and Descent.

If this is just about story, then maybe.

Do resentful people keep posting passive aggressive questions as an excuse to winge and moan?

Personally I have loved and purchased all the DLC for DAI and love every bit of it. All money well spent and I will happily buy whatever else they make.

Sorry it didn't meat your standards. I suggest you don't buy any more and perhaps just wait for DA4 or stop playing altogether.

No? I'd argue that outside of Awakening, most of DAO's were terrible. Both Hakkon and Descent added a lot to the lore.

I think both DAO and ME1 had worse DLC. With the caveat that I haven't played Descent yet, I think JOH is superior to Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar and Witch Hunt and Bring Down the Sky.

Really, ME2-3 had good to great DLC and while I really enjoyed Legacy and Mark of the Assassin I wouldn't say those even lived up to MEs standard (I I think they're better than Overlord, Leviathan, Arrival and Kasumi/Zaed but worse than LoTSB). I never played Omega and Citadel (ME3 ending lost me).

You said it, Mass Effect is a serious contender, while Bring Down the Sky had a new location to explore, introduced us to Batarians for the first time, for the things it offered, it was expensive back then (400 ms points, which would translate to close to 6 dollars which was the price of Jaws of Hakkon.)

Bioware was not a newbie as they had made expansion packs for their games before, not in the DLC model which was new back then, but they were not newbies.

And I still don't see why everyone say it's overpriced, at least in Mexico it costed $78 mxn which at the current outrageous exchange translates into $5 dollars (have to love microsoft for fixed prices in the store)... Most games don't give you pretty much anything for that price, while Jaws and Descent gave you 4 hours of new game, some interestin codex, some nice loot, an additional power and two good characters in the form of the Augur and Renn.... Take note that LotSB went out at the price of 10 bucks or 800 ms points... And Omega and Citadel were sold at 15 bucks or 1200 ms points at the time.

imo the very worst were the DLC from Origins... Except for Awakening most of them were short and forgettable, Witch Hunt was particularly expensive given the ammount of story it had (560 ms points which was the same price Arrival came at launch if I recall correctly.)

At least inquisition keeps on the free-multiplayer expansions model of Mass Effect 3 which other games sell at outrageous prices.

Am going to say something nice about DA:I for once.

JOH was a pleasant surprise for me, it's one of the best DA dlcs IMO.

I would agree that the Spoils of Qunari is the worst because of the skin color and neck crack, but not JoH or Descent.

In my opinion, DA:I DLC has been mediocre at best, and lame at worst. I suppose people who like companion interaction may have been spoiled by Citadel, but it just shows that Bioware can indeed make a DLC that people really like - the people who want companion content anyway, which seems to be most people who buy DLC. So it seems odd that they wouldn't focus on that, since it'll attract a lot of customers and is what we've been asking for.

People complain about The Descent for putting the focus on the supporting cast, but wasn't exactly what Golems of Amgarrak did? In the first five minutes of The Descent, the Inquisitor has more dialogue than the Warden in all of GoA.

Pretty much. Nostalgy googles put aside, the DA:O DLCs were average at best (Leliana's song and Witch Hunt) and pretty mediocre for the rest (Darkspawn Chronicles and Golems of Amgarrak anyone?). And to remain polite, I will not speak of Pinnacle Station.

I don't generally bother comparing DA:I DLC to other games' DLC. I still find the quality disappointing though.

My only complaint towards JoH and Descent is the lack of companion interaction (and the next big DLC fixes that) but I do prefer stories like this over them putting their focus on giving companion content

I'm a little confused, sorry. You want more companion content, but also not?

I mean situations like Cassandra in JoH, it made since for her to get content there over other companions. And I also liked that side characters like Harding got more screen time

In Descent Varric imo should've got more content and possibly Dagna, but I also liked that they put focus on the supporting cast

Relatively speaking maybe. But practically they weren't really bad enough to be called worst. BW hasn't made DLC that have been worst. They've just been not good at times.

Were Descent and JoH not good, sure. Were they bad? Not really. Were they worst among the DLC BW has ever put out? Like I said, they might've been, but they weren't bad.

DA:I DLC was fine yes overpriced but I liked what I played. But this is why I don't like both DA:I DLC it adds to lore is understatement, we just find out one of the important part of Thedas history, and Titan something witch would shake dwarf and world society. "Lets never talk about this again. And Descent answered 0 questions and add 5 more. I love mystery but at this point DA have to much mystery even for me.

Isn't that how Bioware generally does it though? They set something up now then brings it back up later

Ah, I see. Well, that's your right, and to be honest I liked Lt. Renn, but I'd rather they focus on fleshing out the cast that's already there instead of a few new characters we'll never see again (just standard practice for DLC characters). In other words, I'd rather end up with a deep main cast than a whole lot of people who I never got to know very well.

Not like this. Mage/templar war is big world changing event. We do mage/templar war in DA:I. No just wrap it up in one quest.\

Lets make original magister blow world.

And elven gods are real.

How about hints about grey warden civil war.

Yes I think we have enough material.

What I am not even done Felmeth is elven god Mythal. Solas is god Sera is god, everyone is god. Oh and "Titans", dwarf can use magic.

But.

Qunari INVASION!!!

We may never see some of them again but it would be nice to atleast get to know them because of it
