"Hey Guys... btw: we're locking half the forums. When? Uhh... As far as I know: effective immediately, without delay."

I'm gonna miss you TOR guys!
Well i'll make my own Off topic whith Blackjack and Hookers.
Isn't TOR a biower product anyways? Kinda self defeating.
They'll probably direct us to the TOR forums instead.
Which aren't that great either.

We could make a TOR group!
Wait a second, SWTOR IS A BIOWARE GAME!!! WHY WAS THAT THREAD CLOSED?
I mean besides the fact there's the swtor.com site. ![]()

I always found it weird there wasn't a small TOR section outside of the main forum
"Hey Guys... btw: we're locking half the forums. When? Uhh... As far as I know: effective immediately, without delay."
Thanks for the advance notice, right?
Kudos to your work in innovating the forums, but I can't say I understand or approve this particular decision. This is coming from someone who usually never touches or cares for the "off topic" sections of other forums, or forums regarding general topics period, and yet I'll also regret this loss.
"other communities do exist for such off-topic discussions"? Other online communities are way more prone to unnecessary hostility and general inactivity. BSN is fortunate to possess a comparatively friendly, active, and insightful community. Other online communities are also full of faceless strangers who might have nothing in common with me and share zero context with me. In other words, I don't give a damn about them. Few things will compel me to talk about Star Trek or give romance advice to some rando who could be some racist homophobe, a religious zealot, or think video games are stupid for all I know. On BSN, we all share the common thread of being fans of Bioware's universe, which in itself says a thing or two about everyone here, and after spending enough time here it's easy and welcoming to form other ties of camaraderie and forms of enjoyable discussion.
And from a more practical point of view- you're going to have more off-topic discussions leak into your other threads. It happens often enough. Take away this outlet, and you're just going to have more of it everywhere. Woopee. And when so many ppl have so many ways of enjoying their time on BSN and forming sentiment, everytime they see a Bioware game, they'll think of BSN. That's just better for your own marketing. You have an edge few other franchises do.
924 posts and recognizes something I've known across over 53 thousand.
How they don't see this is mind boggling.

Ewwww no. I stayed in offtopic to avoid toxicity. The TOR forums are poison.
we'll no longer have separate sections for spoilers vs. non-spoilers. Instead, we will expect posters to be more diligent about hiding spoilers and labeling threads that contain spoilers.
If you say so. But respectfully, I think it's fair to say we also expect moderators to be more diligent about hiding spoilers and labeling threads that contain spoilers.
Soo Fallout Group anyone?

Nope. Must be a sub, and almost everyone there rips you a new one if you believe anything other than "I need to give Bioware ALL my money and all the features are great and any feature you want is just a QQ/L2P issue or unfeasible"
We could make a TOR group!
Let me know if you do. I enjoyed the discussions.

It that behavior that makes it oh so clear that Bioware are not interested in sensible discussion. They preach one thing but act completely different. Hollow Bioware, oh so hollow your words are

ugh SWTOR forums, have you seen that place? its full of jedi lovers, disgusting

They really should go back to volunteer mods
I agree. I don't think we should have any forumite in charge of banning or anything, too easy to hold personal grudges, that should be specifically third party mods or devs, but we should have NON ANONYMOUS volunteer mods that can do things like, add spoiler tags, move threads, etc. The whole system is in disarray and should be changed. I'm not sure how getting rid of off-topic solves any of that, unless it's to make the forums smaller so that it's easier for the mods to mod...but that seems counter productive.
I was really enjoying the What are you reading? thread.
Half the reason I come here is to lurk in Off-topic and read Bunz threads and exchange hidden messages in music videos.
I hate the idea of merging spoilers and non-spoilers, and "Scuttlebutt" is such a wonderfully descriptive word! Blast you, BN, for adding to the global amount of ennui. ![]()

I said woah woah yah yah bioware back up off me

It's most likely to deal with traffic, though I can think of two other pointless sections that nobody uses to close over the Off-topic
