It's almost like you expect the community manager here to actually engage with the community, lol. Silly Donk.
Not really. I'm as cynical as the rest of you

What some think Conal Pierse should do

What he thinks he could do

What he's doing

WELL ****!
And OT(which apparently stands for Our Trash now instead of Off Topic) is used as the bin for throwaway threads yet again.
Meanwhile still sitting here still hoping it'll be reopened for us to use. And still hearing nothing about it.
You know, being driven away because someone wants to make something special you don't personally agree with is one thing ... being driven away for nothing more than to use the place you've kicked people out of as waste disposal is just ungraceful.
And what's with that moderating?
What exactly is the the rational between moving a topic into a dead section where no one can post as opposed to just locking it in the first place when the end result is the bloody same? It's like they're intentionally adding insult upon injury.
I mean, I can get it if BioWare doesn't want to pay more money for its webpresence, employing more moderators to manage the existing one better or for whatever reason having trust-issues that make volunteer community-mods impossible or some such. But the standards with which this forum has been moderated for some time now, namely by the anonymous Mods or whoever it else is who just moved spam threads instead of locking them is abysmal. That's cluttering your own place. And when quoting actionable comments has been said to be just as bad as saying unwelcome stuff, then moving spam into other sections (where they're still the same spam as before!) without locking them has to be accountable just the same. The moderators are violating the very ToS and behaviour rules they're supposed to uphold.
And that's been going on for some time and has been going on for some time prior to the latest changes to the forum structure. There are multiple threads in this very subsection that were complaining about it, look it up. There's been ample time and notification so it's unthinkable that BioWare could be ignorant of this!
SO WHY IS THIS A THING!?
Whoever's making the decisions regarding the community and this forum can't possibly be just this plain incompetent, you don't get to work such a position if you were this blind.
What is the reason for this behaviour, why is it tolerated and why is it being actively facilitated with the recent changes to the forum structure? This is not about making this place better, because getting actually competent moderators that don't act willy-nilly would be the VERY first step and that one wasn't taken.

I don't think they're incompetent.
The main problem seems to be BioWares attitude regarding the forum:
They left the forum long ago and all that's left are some relics of a bygone age: anonymous moderators, arbitrarily enforcing rules of an uncaring overlord that left them behind.
I don't think they're incompetent.
I don't think BioWare is incompetent either. They must have reasons for their actions, they just aren't communicating them, or not communicating them properly enough to get the reasoning across if they wanted to, which is something of a BioWare trademark by now I suppose, bad communication strategy.
But I'll put it blunt and say that I do think the moderators are not doing a good job at all and if there's a place to voice that critique, it's here.
The dumb thing is that OT needs to be hidden or actually removed, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to accomplish either of those two things.

Removing or hiding OT could happen in time. It is courteous of BioWare to provide users who would like to search through and backup posts made in the Off Topic time to do so. Hopefully, when the decision to delete or hide OT comes an announcement will be made with adequate forewarning so that those who may have been clinging unto hope for reopening or waiting until the last moments to save what they would like to save can have a chance to do backups.

It's been a worthwhile journey through the music posts. Getting to listen to missed posts and seeing the users that have passed on, so many ghosts. The reminiscing...
A missed post that seems fitting to share here.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. If it's going to just be used as a place to dump locked threads then hide it. It's been over a month since "we're closing Off Topic." It certainly doesn't look closed until you go into it and try to post. And there was no mention of keeping it viewable for a certain period of time until X date when it will be removed. Either open it back up or hide it.

Using the OT as a dumping ground isn't a great idea since it could encourage activity targeted to populate the closed OT. This among other reasons should suggest the practice be stopped.
Yes, there was no mention of keeping OT visible and it's safest to assume it won't remain so.
I don't think they're incompetent.
Neither do I. They're careless incompetents, it's very much different.
I'm glad I could touch the soul of one of my friends at BioWare with the magic of anime today. ![]()

You're glad you could spam the readership of BioWare games with your personal interests?
Well, did you like it?
Like what?

I-I see, so you didn't then...
Back in my day, that's what off topic was for.
Good times.
Nowadays, it appears you have to start an off topic post in another section and the thread gets moved to OT. Let the good times roll.
Puddi did something glorious today.
Yup. hahaha
