I never used the off-topic forums, but removing them is a stupid idea. It's a terrible excuse as well that other places exist. People come to these forums to discuss Bioware games but also things not related to Bioware, every successful community has a space for general chat.

BioWEAR doesn´t want a successful community it seems. They want mindless zombies that buy their games and sh*t the f up about it.

Guys, rolling "Quest help and walkthroughs" into "Story, campaign, and characters" may not have been your best move. People who need help with a quest will not want to (and should not have to) dig through 14 pages of random character threads to get to the one they need.

Especially considering the guy who is looking for help would probably mind the dozens of topics discussing endings and whatnot.

None of this was a good move.

I mean damn I'm gonna hit 7000 likes on my posts soonish and the sudden burst isn't even coming from something good.

One has to wonder what screwed up derangement that resides in BioWare when this is the result..

So... they'd rather have non-existent and repetitive conversations about a future Mass Effect title that we know barley anything about?  Interesting.

The reason the Off-Topic section is so active was because... there isn't anything new to discuss from a Bioware title till it comes out/more info in the future - it keeps people sane, especially since a lot of folks here tend to talk to each other a lot, or at least used to.  Honestly, it would calm down as soon as the new game came out, but I guess that wasn't a priority for them, oh well.

A+ BioWare

Honestly, I imagine someone at Bioware thought this would be a good experiment to see if it results in a positive change.

Though WE know it won't, they don't;they need to see it because they don't spend time here like we do forging the connections that we have with each other.

Its us vs them.

Well, as if Bioware couldn't become even less fun, they certainly have managed to duck under even that very low bar.

Very bad move from a personal perspective, but expected. Bioware's been trying to shake me off for years. If I liked it, it had to be removed, whether in-game, or on the forums.

Congratulations. You did it. I'm leaving; I get the message!

The only real reason I had to come here after 6 years was to participate in Off-Topic. At least then, I was exposed to what was going on with Bioware in the event you actually were going to surprise me and find yourselves again. No longer I suppose. BW's games since 2011 certainly haven't engendered much inspiration. No wonder Bethesda kicks the living snot out of you guys time and time again...oh, and they still maintain an off-topic forum.

Its been a pleasure getting to know some of the people here.

It's off to the Bethsoft forums. Hope to see some of you there.

Best regards.

The Romance forum actually did need to be closed. Off Topic has never been even close to that bad.

Bullshit. It was laziness then as much as it is laziness now (also possibly not paying their internet bill).

CP closing the romance forum and cracking down on the IT crowd were two of his best decisions. Both were toxic to BW's brand.

Using the word "toxic" is toxic.

I know what I said.

Did the Mirandalorians invade off topic when I was gone for ages?

You'd have to ask the Community Manager tbh, they are technically in charge of all of this

Well, especially nowadays when everyone is so desperatly trying to get customers bound to your company, create faith in your brand, connected to your products etc...I am not in marketing, but it seems like a really stupid move from that point ... but then, after ME3 I am not really surprised anymore about decisions made by Bioware...

What positive change do they expect?  It's a circle-jerk in the Mass Effect Andromeda section because there is no info.  I guess that is seen in there eyes as constructive posting.

There hasn't been a community manager since Jessica Marizan left

I don't even know who it is;is it Conal Pearce? After Jessica Merizan left I've never been quite sure who was the community manager because at least she was around and talked to us. With her it was obvious and she was totally helpful and mega cool. After she dipped out I never noticed someone filling the void she left behind.

Exactly.  The Romance section didn't and shouldn't of been closed, it was lazy act on their end and Evil Chris or whomever hated that section anyway, so it was a joy for him.

So now you just have to find out who hated the Off topic section enough to commit this dastardly deed all over again.

You know what hurts? I'm so used to going to the Off Topic section that I'm still occasionally clicking on it when I'm trying to get to this thread.

Off topic was right were my short cut leads. So navigating to the bioware forums now just leads to a useless husk.

Apt.

I wake up early to upload a new video on youtube and I get this?

Call me DSP because WOOOOOOOOOW.

Notes on my Let's Play since I am never going to finish it now:

Wish I could cap it off, but that's life. C'est la vie. It was fun while it lasted.

Anyways, add me:

Crusty on Steam. BraindeadBroom might also work.

And seeing you have to do this Crusty is just plain sad. You crafted quite a tale.

*salutes*

I fail to see how closing a sub-section consisting of cliquish "romance" obsessed weirdos discussing Quarian sweat or if tali's into anal sex(no joke) is a bad thing. The tiny amount of "romance" content in these games doesn't justify a whole section dedicated to it.
