I fail to see how closing a sub-section consisting of cliquish "romance" obsessed weirdos discussing Quarian sweat or if tali's into anal sex(no joke) is a bad thing. The tiny amount of "romance" content in these games don't justify a whole section to it.

Although it didn't cut down on the overall weirdness of the romance obsession. It just ended up bleeding into the rest of the forums.

We recently discovered a programming oversight that allowed users to freely discuss subjects unrelated to our products. This created a sense of community that we feel is detrimental to the overall experience, and as such, has been removed in the latest patch.

Yes because "romance" was all that was talked about, not character development, character analyze, etc, those never happened, right.  I gotchu bb.  There were extremes in every section, most of the people and discussions were civil and a lot of great posts were made and some really bad ones, like that Tali madness (good times).  

 

You were never a fan of that section anyway, so it's all good.

It wasn't just about the romance, at the time it was also the place where people would discuss the characters and I find it perfectly normal for the BSN to have character sections as it is wildly considered as one of the most important aspect of Bioware games.
Obvisouly some conversations led to really weird stuff which is why you should bloody moderate forums.
