Look out French forums. An invasion is coming....

It's probably the same for the other language.

Anyway I haven't been of the french forum for a couple of years now , but it's a small community , and they still have a few active Bioware fan moderators.

Why bother?

It's not like they care, obviously.

I do.

Oh, hahaha. I just noticed this now but also, thanks for getting rid of the modding and projects section in the process. Great idea! 'Cause there was no one who was looking for mods specifically and it's not like an entire community was built up around it just by fan work alone. It's always great to feel appreciated.

The mod topics and threads all still exist. They have been moved into the fan creations section.

To answer a few questions:

We will continue to monitor how things go with these new changes and make future decisions based on the results.

For now, Off-Topic will remain closed. We understand (and as is evidenced by this thread) that this may upset some users, but our hope is this will create a stronger forum community in the long run. to those of you who are upset, please remember to express yourselves in ways that are respectful and in keeping with the terms of use of these boards. Anyone uttering threats or using excessively harsh and abusive language will receive moderation action.

Off-Topic discussions in other areas will be locked, and posters who are repeat violators or who are found to be purposefully derailing other areas will have their posting moderated. We will continue to allow master threads like the Twitter and Drinkquisition threads, that are slightly off-topic at times. That being said, people actively working to drive such threads further off-topic may start to receive moderation. Likewise, threads comparing BioWare titles to their contemporaries are also perfectly fine (though as always we do ask that people try to find an appropriate existing thread before starting a new one).

We are continuing to look at other changes to the forums (such as changes to groups) and ways we can improve the community as a whole, but nothing has been set as of yet. We want to see how these initial changes go first, and will decide what to do next from there.

Not to come across as rude, but I feel like Bioware's definition of improving the community is different from the actual communities' definition of improvement. Bioware is only fracturing the community, the DAI and ME sections were way worse in terms of people having bad behavior than the Off Topic ever was. If you (Bioware, I'm not blaming you as you are the messenger) want to strengthen the community then do so by have the moderators get more involved in discussions.

With all due respect Mr. Pierse,

I find it far more community friendly to allow mods their own section instead of mixing mods, fan fictions and fan art together. It becomes a huge mess.

I'll say this, I'm glad that people aren't shooting the messenger.

Even if the message sucks.

I do.

Too bad they're the ones who need to care to actually do anything about your warning point tho.

Maybe if you can convince a brick wall to hear your opinion you can get them to take away my warning point too.

For quoting the dumb meme that "Shinji should get in the ****** robot."

Yes, with the stars. Not the actual word. So maybe I'll get another point for this one, yay!

I was expecting "The Off-Topic Forums is now accessible again. Thank you for the feedback." But then all we get is a restatement of the OP again, but with petty sympathy.

Honestly the biggest issue here is just the massive lack of warning. There would be far less complaints if you gave us like a weeks notice. You just bombed the place and because of it i've spent hours PMing people, adding people on steam, joining groups and generally rushing around trying not to lose track of all my friends. Hell if we just had a single thread so we could talk about who is going where and how to contact each other I would be less pissed off.

Was the Dragon Age Origins New Player Guide and Quest Help shut down as well? I don't see it in  the DAO forum or anywhere else, and it wasn't mentioned in the changes.

If you really want a better forum and a stronger community, then you need to actually moderate these forums properly and perhaps have active community managers in here.

What you did today doesn't seem to be very constructive, it's like you only want a filtered response to the few topics you allow and everything else simply has to go.

You can, but only in the ME-Forums of course...which I avoid like cancer, leaving me only with Dragon Age...which I also avoid because I am waiting for a last DLC so I can maybe play that damn game one more time around X-mas with all content and ... wait, this does not belong here! It does not belong in this thread! I am sorry! SORRY you hear! No, no...please, don't don't ....*static white noise*

First of all, thanks for letting us know.

I guess I would have found it eventually but IMO, it was still useful to have a modding section because it also made people aware of the fact that there were mods for the ME franchise in the first place and often people would look for specific fan content, be it mods, fanfics, or art. Now they are all mashed together. I have to ask, how exactly is that helpful to the community.

The new modding section actually made me hopeful that BW would warm up to mods a little more again when the new boards started. Well, looks like I was wrong. Now it looks like it was just a stepping stone to de-emphasize mods after shutting down the projects feature from the old BSN.

Well, you can't expect a sudden flip. They ARE gonna wait and see if this works. We'll have to be patient and hope they come to understand what we already know. Its not like it hasn't happened before.

Ex-

Post Dragon Age 2, Mr. Gaider was defending the playersexual romance options that DA2 provided. I, along with many others, didn't like it and expressed why we didn't. A few times there were some rather snarky or perhaps even fiery responses by both sides, but the goal was to try to explain why each side felt the way they felt.

And in Inquisition? Those that didn't approve of playersexual romance options got what they wanted. So its not like Bioware can't be open to reason.

Much like their game philosophy, their board one is "remove it, don't improve it".

Hey, everyone!

In order to provide a better experience on our forums, we have decided to reduce the number of public boards. These changes will take place over the course of today (Monday, August 24th).

Conal Pierse, pls.

I notice that under Multiplayer you have removed the Looking for Group subforum, which was regularly actice and was the place where newbies came to find people to play with.

I personally had put a lot of work into creating the Not Sticky (since Bioware wouldn't create a sticky) post and myself and many of the Multiplayer regulars had been bumping the thread daily, or almost daily, to keep it near the top.

We had also created threads for each platform so that players would find it really easy to find others to game with. The advantage was that the old Combat Strategy was then not cluttered with posts from people looking to find a group.

My personal reaction is that I feel like puking to see so much of my own work and a helpful resource for the player community go down the tubes. But it's not just about my personal reaction, it's about how you allow the community to aid each other, which presumably is part of the idea of having this forum in the first place.

It is my strong suggestion that you reconsider that removal and reinstate Looking for Group underneath or next to the Multiplayer section somewhere.

Biovar, pls.

On the subject of improving rather than removing, I sent a rather long personal message to a Bioware employee here about improving the forums, and asked if they could send it to those who were responsible for making these types of changes.

Don't know what happened with that. Hope someone read all that I typed. hahaha

Edit- Man, I can't even type "hahaha" seriously.
