I feel like BioWare has been all over the place since Dragon Age: Inquisition's release.

No idea what prompted this decision, but you claim that it's for the purpose of creating "a stronger forum community in the long run".  As I understand it, strong communities are built on good will.  By removing a place for people to chat about things other than your games, you are decreasing good will in this place.

It seems pretty discriminatory that we got shut down and then were told that we would likely be banned if we go to one of the other lobbies and made English posts.

Those are run by community teams from those regions

Not to be rude, but if those community teams can handle it, but ours can't, I'd take it as a sign that we need a new English community team.

well, you cant really compare the lobby with the national offtopic sections. i guess there were more posts per day in the lobby than in the entire german forum in the last 3 months... dont know how active (or not) the french/polish forums are.

but yes, a new community team wouldnt be a bad thing imo.

well, you cant really compare the lobby with the national offtopic sections. i guess there were more posts per day in the lobby than in the entire german forum in the last 3 months... dont know how active (or not) the french/polish forums are.

Yeah, but we had Cassandra Saturn threads sitting there for close to a week which makes it appear that no mods even popped in and checked us out. The DAI and ME forums were way more hostile than the Lobby ever was from my personal experience. It's a matter of them not even trying and just giving up that frustrates me.

Which is why I agree with LPPrince that we need more people instead of them closing an entire section

They've been pretty sour on this community since DA2. That was really when devs stopped posting here with any regularity (but of course not twitter, tumblr, etc.) and seemed to regret ever making this place to begin with.

You know, that's something I don't really understand. This is their official forum, this place should be one of their top priorities when it comes to social media presence. This whole "toxic forum" talk is ridiculous. They are running a BUISNESS. Do something about the "toxic forum", start moderating your official forum again and stop making it even worse.

I'm pretty sure that, after Jessica Merizan left and the named mods were replaced by the botmods, "cleaning up the off topic" was used as a punishment.

Maybe they got fed up with everyone saying how good other games were in comparison to their own?
Either way what a daft decision. Clearly made by a manager somewhere within a meeting on 'on-brand engagement'.
Having suffered through a few of them during my professional career I'm surprised it took so long.

You can get that just by visiting DA forum though. I'm not sure why they close down the Off-Topic, but hopefully, it will be reopen just like romance thread after the Miranda civil war.
