Well, I shouldn't be surprised, since the Doctors (founders) and many of the original staff left Bioware has simply turned into a **** Company, of course the forum must eventually fall into the same quality level, it was really only a matter of time.  

 

The past couple of years they have spent their time making bug-ridden games with bland ''Streamlined'' (lol) awesome- button game play, unoriginal writing with nonsensical endings, releasing bland bug ridden money-grab DLC, treating their fans like garbage and blatantly lying to them, utterly failing in their marketing and community presence. Its really going downhill for them in every way possible. 

 

I'm not going to rant here, but I kind of stopped being a fan. I'm going to sit back now and watch what happens with Bioware. Maybe they'll release a good game again, maybe they'll be trapped forever in the dime a dozen mediocre game company pit. Who knows, but thankfully there are many other companies which have surpassed Bioware on all levels, so no big loss. *Shrugs*

The funny part of the whole "the forums are toxic" thing is that the off-topic was pretty much the least toxic of any of them.

 

As an Offtopic regular, yup. And I can say that without biased glasses, because I was an Offtopic regular exactly because the people there are a very openminded bunch for as long as you aren't a prime example of GIFT. And if you were, the Offtopic section didn't get toxic, it went anti-toxic to expel the impure filth out of its system.

 

Don't know how the Offtopic was back in the day when Priestly had a mind of purging it, but considering the other section that got the global banhammer was the ME romance section during a time when you couldn't say anything without starting a flameware, so I assume the nowadays Offtopic I know isn't even remotely as bad, so that can hardly be a viable reason to close it.

I'm hoping for an actual explanation of the changes rather than PR speak, though I feel as though we wont be getting one =P

A strong community on your forums is actually not a bad thing. It can be a very good thing.

 

Despite the fact that it can get volatile from time to time when you do things your fanbase doesn't like, it's still a solid source of feedback directly from a portion of the most dedicated of your fanbase.

 

The off-topic section largely exists to try and contain the off-topic threads to one board, as well as provide staying power when you don't have any games that are considered current such as right now for BioWare. A lot of people have moved past Inquisition, and Andromeda is still a long ways out.
