Let me guess. Some EA chump noticed that the Off-Topic forum had more posts than the DA:I forum. And figured this was bad for business somehow, and made sure it got closed down.

I'm pretty sure that, after Jessica Merizan left and the named mods were replaced by the botmods, "cleaning up the off topic" was used as a punishment.

"Aaaawwww c'mon Bob! You ruined my Starbucks order AGAIN?! It's off topic cleaning duty for you!"

"But sir! Nobody was in there for weeks!"

"I don't care! Start working! End of line!"

"Noooooooooooo!"

And I thought I was the only one who seriously though the BiowareMod# accounts were bots instead of real people.

Probably not.

A strong community on your forums is actually not a bad thing. It can be a very good thing.

Despite the fact that it can get volatile from time to time when you do things your fanbase doesn't like, it's still a solid source of feedback directly from a portion of the most dedicated of your fanbase.

The off-topic section largely exists to try and contain the off-topic threads to one board, as well as provide staying power when you don't have any games that are considered current such as right now for BioWare. A lot of people have moved past Inquisition, and Andromeda is still a long ways out.

This.

Yeah, probably not. Probably cost too much. Like manuals for the games. Had to go.

The logic with BSN mods are flawless, like my Destiny Raider trophy.

The anonymous moderation system is silly and flawed. And being all anonymous just means they don't have accountability for anything they do. They can not be reasoned with, questioned, or applied to for help or concerns. Its a terrible system.

Well, I thought that Bioware was just kind of over the BSN. I wonder what they expect this will do.

I jokingly announce I was leaving the Bioware forums and then a day later, the off topic is closing? It can't be a coincidence, Bioware got upset and thought what was the point of having the off-topic without their favourite poster.

But in all seriousness...YOU MONSTERS!

...and thank you I guess. I can now finally be free of this toxic wasteland!

Exactly. I've tried asking them understandable questions in a curious, genuinely polite manner, and I just get ignored. And this is via PM, so it's not like they didn't happen to see it. It's very frustrating.

Someone give this poster a commendation.

And me as well. I know I could usually rely on people like Fernando and Allan when they came here to set things right, but that's all over with now. And I feel bad that this was a terrible enough place that made the Devs not want to interact, but lots of us have come looking to improve and to have no response at all for anything from the devs is disheartening. They need known devs who interact, so when you see them you know they can be trusted to be fair, firm, and occasionally even friendly.

It's clearly not going to, though.

Again - they are actively trying to kill the forum. ACTIVELY. They want it to cease to exist in everything but name only. A place to catalogue news posted on social networks and to act as a psychotic echo chamber for the deranged who believe they are actually talking to someone with "fan feedback."

They don't WANT this place to exist. And instead of hoping it would slowly die, they instead are working on hacking it to pieces.

I feel like Flemythal now..."She was betrayed as I was betrayed ! As the world was betrayed !"

Shutting down off-topic is a terrible idea.

Until it reopens, I guess we can just stage a peaceful protest here.

CP closing the romance forum and cracking down on the IT crowd were two of his best decisions. Both were toxic to BW's brand.

The romance section, probably, but the IT thread was possibly the most optimistic thread in the time of the ME3 ending. Half my posts are from there. Honestly, the end of that thread is very similar to what just happened to the off-topic section. A whole community was shut down with no warning and told to use groups. This, how people feel about off-topic, is how I felt back then.

I'm sorry you got to the RWBY thread so late. I was ready for you to be here for Volume 3.

It was supposed to be peaceful? I didn't get the memo. I already burned a Garrus statue and blew up a trash-can.

I would, but I took a warning post to the knee. Twice.

Nah, rEApers are a much better analogy for EA.
