Friendly reminder that in less than a day, Vroom's Off-Topic haven already has 80 registered users and over 1,000 posts spread across 50 different thread topics. I won't claim that kind of traffic will be sustainable over the long term but it's a great alternative to this place.

It seems that BioWare wants to get rid of their customers.

So do them the favor and don't buy any BioWare games from now on.

I was just about to show a picture of my boobs on the Behind the Monitor picture thread too. Nice timing you have Bioware!

This hurts me! Stop getting my hopes up and post them in The Shelter! We have a pics thread for that! :P

I have a DA fan site as well. All are welcome. And we are a mature rated site so adult conversation is allowed and no limit on likes, And we have been up and running for over a year.

Why was anything to do with the character creator and individual/unique Inquisitors moved to the gameplay section? Those threads will most certainly get lost. While most people don't post, it's nice to go back and look at the pictures. Now they will be forever lost underneath gameplay threads... I had to search and search for the screenshot forums and cc sliders. That's another community hit hard by this. I highly recommend putting that back to it's own section please...

I agree, it was better to have a Customization section be separate from the Combat section. The overlap there is minimal, especially considering most of the discussion in the Customization section was about Inquisitors' looks. I've posted in the Inquisitors thread. It was fun. I saw that there was a community there of its own, which makes sense considering the amount of pages it has. Luckily, unlike the off-topic section, it still exists, but the move is still useless and annoying.

"Because you suck and we hate you, but like an abused trailer park wife you'll keep coming back."
- Bioware on their community.

I don't know how they will survive even as EA'S starved husk in the next few years with this kind of mentality too

Well this is a bit of a head scratcher. Off topic has always seemed pretty tame and quite nice to lurk, not that I've spent much time there. Don't see how closing it can do anything other than further fracture the community, and increase the number of off topic/ troll threads in other areas of the forum, which obviously isn't ideal. It will also be a shame to see long standing members of the Bsn who post mostly in ot heading off to pastures new. Hope Bioware reconsiders.

Edit: I wonder if the decision has been made to no longer employ a community manager whose job involves forum moderation, and therefore they are shrinking the forums to make them easier to manage for Biowaremod01' etc. given that the devs seem to communicate largely via Twitter these days anyway, I suppose I can see why it makes sense to them. Still doesn't make it any less of a shame though, and my personal feeling is that it's not the best solution to the problem of an unwieldy forum.

Seriously though. What's the reason for this? "Creating a stronger forum community" rings a wee bit hollow when you choose to shut down a sub with over a million replies and its own sense of community. There are better ways to foster community. Like drawing mods from the forumbase. Wonder if this has something to do with money? The off topic section probably takes up server space. Did EA cut Bioware's budget and this kinda thing is the result? Obscure forum consolidation and shutting down popular sections, ironically in the name of community cohesion?

Guys. Bioware is going bankrupt, semi-confirmed rumor.

I wonder about this as they suddenly closed down one their beta test things today. Now I am worried. Thanks!

I think this deserves a signal boost.

Vroomvroom's forum is pretty active and seems to have a large amount of the OT's regular posters present within its threads. So I advise anyone who was a regular in any of the OT topics to join this forum (or even if you just want to talk OT with like-minded individuals). :)

Yes, but why Off-Topic and not the Legacy Games section?

I appreciate most of the changes.

However, while I have rarely used the OT forum, I think it's not a good idea to remove it. An OT forum serves to link the community in times when little interesting is happening and serves as a temporary refuge from heated debates. Please reconsider.

Woah... I can't believe this. I've been here since 2015, it's nice to meet people with the same interest, but even ncier to discuss other topics with those people whom you already know share some of your itnerests. If the off-topic is going to disappear, WHEN it will disappear I guess, I'll go with it. As much as I love Bioware, I feel like most of my friends I made here (and love dearly), I know from the off-topic. I have adapted to the new BSN even though the old one was way more social & cozy imo, but I won't be able to adjust to this.

So yeah... Adios people.

They actually already got rid of it. They locked it within a few mins of the announcement.

Yes. Not like people in other timezones were especially screwed over having to pick up all the pieces of this mess.

Ugh yeah... Last night when I shut it down everything was fine. Woke up early for an exam today, got back and this?! Waw, seriously, I've been all for BSN these past 5 years, but now? They sunk down to the bottom of my list tbh.

The sad thing is, this now sounds like a possibility. Like its a matter of time before they say, "Well its been fun, bye everyone! See you everywhere else but here!"

Oh guess that's it then. Don't think I'll be sticking around just to talk about a singular game that might interest me, if there's no off-topic, there's no reason to stick around between the games. Without the community around it, the games themselves lose a lot of their value to me as well, doubt I'll buy another one.
