That represents a lot of time. Some might say it was wasted, but getting to know some very nice people is never time poorly spent. It just won't be happening here anymore.
Off-topic is a very useful marketing research tool if the marketing team actually existed beyond "MOAR MONIES AT ADS!" they could easily peruse and figure out why some of their former customers don't want to purchase their product... maybe the could put a spin on things to entice them?
But BioWare/EA's being doing a lot of shady things such as making PC DLC more expensive then console DLC.
If I was working for marketing I'd go around and slap a lot of people and tell them goodwill is important. It's not something you should scoff at. But knowing how things are going, I'm going to be ignored.
I'm a student in marketing and know more about marketing than your whole marketing division... tis kinda sad.
They only look at sales numbers and profit. That's all the shareholders care about. It doesn't matter that they trade longterm goodwill for shortterm gains, if the company is no longer increasing its worth in a few years the shareholders will move on.
They are trying to please the wrong demographic here.
We can't do anything about it though... as long as their games sell, as long as their products get decent ratings... so long nothing we say or do will matter.
I highly doubt they will reconsider it at all.
Again - this isn't to make the forums a better place. It's to make the forums low maintenance. It's too much work to have a forum where people can talk about any topic they want. Bioware doesn't care if every person on these forums gets up and leaves... that's the bottom line. They want it to exist so they can say they have a forum, but they don't actually want anyone posting here. Because people who post require effort.
They want to put the absolute, bare-bones, bottom-of-the-barrel amount of effort into this place. In terms of manhours, actual dollars, server space, creative drive... you name it, they don't want to spend it. It's not worthwhile to them. YOU aren't worthwhile to them. Unless you have a Reddit account, at least. Then they think you have an opinion worth expressing.
Ok?
And who says Nice guys (and gals) finish last? Congrats! Well deserved!
Thing is, you are a rarity among the many others that choose to post otherwise. Am guessing that this is kinda how Bioware sees it, too. Would rather Bioware hire a Community Mgr, but that seems to have a higher cost than this apparent fix.
Ok?
What is the rarity there? Look at the top 50 non-Bioware forumites who have the highest post counts, highest Likes or highest number of friends. Many of them are Off Topic regulars.
I don't feel rare either. Most of the active posters have a post/likes ratio of 75% or better. Most of them have at least a dozen friends and are members in several groups. That's what happens when you engage in the community.
It's more rare to see someone with 10k+ posts who isn't "liked" much.
Bioware responds on Reddit exponentially more than they respond on their own forum. That was the general gist of the message there.
I know the Bioware devs responds on Reddit and Twitter more than their own forums and I honestly hope that changes. And truth be told the disconnect from them does fall on both Bioware and the community

Indeed. This one dude, Catch This Fade, was legendary. 30,000+ posts. I heard the stories.

I'll close my posting here with this one song
Everyone is free to draw conclusions as they sees fit.
And I may be among them; certainly posted a bit in the Skyrim thread here, and was a Top Poster on the old Bioware boards due partially to OT.
But there are far, far more that are not so nice as Mousestalker; do not even go out of their way to be pleasant, reasoned, or the like. And am guessing that this is a reason why Bioware Devs rarely appear here any longer, and that those in charge of funds saw that it was time to give it the axe.
I may not like it either, but cannot blame them.
They began to leave for entirely different reasons. Many of those unpleasant people are here because Bioware packed up, left and decided not to moderate anymore.

The Bioware devs were never moderators to begin with that's the purpose of the Community Teams

You think putting all of the blame on the community is the solution? Both sides have their faults here and since it's BioWare's forum, the power to change lies with them. We certainly can't change anything, it's not like we're in control of every single poster here.
Btw... the way you talked to the last BioWare dev responding to you might play a role in why he didn't come back. ![]()

The point remains. They all up and left at the same time.

Interesting how the French, German and the Poles get to keep the forum structure yet the English speaking section doesn't. Especially considering the low volume of posts and topics in there.
Believe they began to leave because of threats, name-calling, lies, mistreatment by so-called fans, etc. Do not blame the Devs for vacating, either.
Of all of them only Allan was active on here when they made the new forums.

That's probably why along with those Community Teams operating differently
I thought the OT board was a pretty friendly one, to be honest. I don't recall seeing any big arguments there. Seen plenty in the scuttlebut forum, and the others, though.

And rather than Ban the people who delivered those threats and gave them mistreatment, who WERE a minority that this community helped knock down, they decided to paint the entire community with the same brush, and treat all of us like spoiled children.

Some of the Devs were pretty good at name-calling too, I should add.

Indeed, the Cassandra is a man guy only posted in the DA:I section
