Indeed, the Cassandra is a man guy only posted in the DA:I section

I remember that fellow. Didn't agree with him much.

The guy lower down is the off topic forum, the guy higher up is BioWare.

Is it because I haven't bought any DA:I DLC? If that is the case, I'll do so.

Bioware team: the old gods, the fans: worshipers/followers. The idea of a blissful arrangement had always been doomed. This is good source material for Dragon age, I should really write that book I've been meaning to write. Change a few things here, a few things there...

:/ I'm amazed this concern for OT carried on this many pages. I'll lurk a bit longer, though my interest is waning.

Of all of them only Allan was active on here when they made the new forums.

Oh yeah, it's disappointing we wont see his postings & let's plays in the OT anymore. The Stick of Truth sequel, a number of games out that would have been fun. I liked reading his opinions on things.

Don't even joke about that. It will just give EA ideas...

EA will release an "Off Topic" DLC soon, I am sure. Only 4.99 and you will be able to talk to other users about anything you want.

Upset some fans? Really?

Come on, Bioware... In all those years on Forum, this was the worst decision you've ever made. This site off-topic was the only reason I've spent my hours browsing the internet and getting good laughs.

This off-topic was different. Everyone was a friend for me, everyone knew each other and we actually discussed something worth discussing, like the Star Wars, Anime, LP's thread that had MORE THAN LOTS  of views, the many off-topic games and Workday Cheer Threads. See, we had fun. We had something to pass the time.

In ME: Andromeda Forums, we have many not so interesting discussions because it's just wild speculation and people BASH the game because a TEASER TRAILER showed them how the game would be. (Seriously?) So, is locking the off-topic really a smart decision? Keep the community strong? Hell, the Off-Topic WAS the community... With it locked, you're actually losing a bunch of traffic and PEOPLE.

See for example, I am waiting for ME:Andromeda or some news, but what can I do now here now that the Off-Topic is gone? Check the twitter thread, leave. Goodbye Internet for the day. Seriously?

And please, do listen for the feedback, don't just give us a middle finger and say "Off-Topic is closed for the sake of being a more united/strong community"

And rather than Ban the people who delivered those threats and gave them mistreatment, who WERE a minority that this community helped knock down, they decided to paint the entire community with the same brush, and treat all of us like spoiled children.

And many of the posts in these threads do not seem to indicate otherwise.

This may be unfair, but the good have been punished with the bad for a very long time.

What I find most baffling is that not only does closing off-topic kinda alienate forum goers, but it's at odds with simple human nature. People have an innate tendency to deviate or meander from the subject from time to time, it's just something that happens when a conversation goes on long enough.

I mean, we've already seen a few threads closed for going off-topic for a couple pages... so surely preventing us from being able to have somewhere we can actually discuss something else will only lead to an increase in thread derailment in the main forums?

Besides, who among us hasn't hung out or cooled down in the off-topic section to escape some toxic threads before? It's a little chaotic in the off-topic section from time to time, but I think it actually helps keep the peace elsewhere.

I doubt it , unless Bioware is close to bankrupt, every big game brand has its own forum .(even small ones)

They probably want to reduce the cost of this place to a bare minumum though.

Not entirely sure how Off-topic is so expensive. I mean hell if they need mods they could have just asked some of the more reliable members of BSN. Like Prince for example.

It's not just off topic. The modding sections, the fanfic sections, it's like they shut down all the most peaceful places on these boards, those that actually needed the least maintenance to begin with. All those sections that had the most active and loyal community members posting within

By the way and generally regarding the whole "toxicity" idea, I think even the Andromeda forums are not particularly toxic these days. Sure, there are a lot of arguments and pointless threads but this is the next big game and many different people are coming in there, lot's of new people and they bring in their ideas and styles. Of course you get more arguments than you do between people who know each other and know how to talk to each other. Still, I think it's only fair to expect vivid discussions and even arguments on a public forum. This is no reason to grow a disdain for your community or to leave them in the rain.

If there is threats and name calling, of course, that is bad and you should invest in the moderating that is required to make it plain that such behavior is not tolerated. However, I think even during the worst times at BSN, it was no worse than what you can find in half the youtube comment sections or on half the other boards out there where people are passionate about something.

I think one of the biggest mistakes during BSN's "crisis times" like the ME3 ending backlash was that there was no honest discussion between the fans and the devs. This used to be the case back in the times of ME1 and 2 and DA:O. A bit of insight, a bit of dialogue and a bit of honesty can go a long way both ways. And if you find unacceptable behavior you clamp down on that and on that only.

I think the comments that have been made by LPPrince, DaemionMoadrin, Jeremiah12LGeek and many others about proper moderation and the key issue here. I remember times (even before BSN on the old legacy boards) when the forums did have a mix of community manager and volunteer moderating. That worked really well and we had a great forum environment back in the day. And even when people were not very happy with e.g. the Pinnacle Station DLC, things did not escalate. That was a strong community.

I highly doubt they will reconsider it at all.

Again - this isn't to make the forums a better place. It's to make the forums low maintenance. It's too much work to have a forum where people can talk about any topic they want. Bioware doesn't care if every person on these forums gets up and leaves... that's the bottom line. They want it to exist so they can say they have a forum, but they don't actually want anyone posting here. Because people who post require effort.

They want to put the absolute, bare-bones, bottom-of-the-barrel amount of effort into this place. In terms of manhours, actual dollars, server space, creative drive... you name it, they don't want to spend it. It's not worthwhile to them. YOU aren't worthwhile to them. Unless you have a Reddit account, at least. Then they think you have an opinion worth expressing.

I just can't see them reconsider. That would be OOC for Bioware

So I guess Bioware maybe following this thread somewhat... I would really like some more dlc item packs (not yelling). Not the whole throne etc kind but the kind that was released in DA 2 where the items grow as you level up. I would buy that instantly. I have all the dlc and started a new game but I'm finding it tedious to gather materials early on and would just rather do more combat. I know some people are waiting for that one dlc in DA:I regarding you know who but item packs in between then would be nice.

Also fade touch materials, with out exploit is annoying to acquire.

As long as the Sonic Chronicles subforum is still up, this is a moot point.
